I know it is obviously a way of making money but I always think it is nice to get a card/send a card to somebody you like/spend a nice evening with your other half.

What do people think?

i hate the "why do you need one day to show how much you care" argument :P

you dont need ONE day, its just nice that there is a day where you can go over the top

why should you do something nice for your mom on mothers day? you gonna tell her f**k YOU MA when it comes down to the crunch of mothers day cause you cleared her gutter in november?

my girlfriend is taking me to play laser quest and then we're makin porn :P

My horse died on Valentines Day when I was 14 years old. I was absolutely devastated. She'd broken her leg and was shot in the head before I even managed to get up to the farm to see her. Imagine being a 14 year old girl obsessed with all things equine and having it all ripped right from you on supposedly the most romantic day of the year :P

I'm also not keen on it because I like to spoil my bloke throughout the year and have him spoil me. And yes Nightcrawler13 I take this issue with mothers day, fathers day, pancake day (pancakes are great throughout the year, no?), even International Talk Like a Pirate day if I'm totally honest. We should all be nice to our partner's and our mother's and father's throughout the year, eat pancakes and talk like pirates all year round :P

I'm working 10-4 on valentines day this year, my bloke is shifting some stuff over to mine from his in preperation of him moving in with me. I probably won't even see him.

Can't stand the tacky gimmick personally, but I always have a night in with the wife regardless.

There's no way we want to go out somewhere and see all the blokes looking miserable with the fact that some stupid gimmick has forced them to go out and spend money when he doesn't want to. There are some very miserable faces on Valentine's Day. But I shall be at home with the missus so I won't be one of them.

Don't get me wrong, I love pancakes. And yes I guess pancake day is a good excuse to hold the competition. However, would it not be better if you ate pancakes throughout the year....for training for the competition, if nothing else :P

I'm a very plain kind of pancake girl. I love them best just with sugar and lemon. I'm not a fan of savoury pancakes.

I quite a girly girl, romantic at heart and hoped one day the guy i had the hots for would say he felt the same way on valentines day. That has never happened. And then last year the guy i was kinda seeing decided to dump me, by facebook message, on the 12th - so i'm not a fan any more :P
