me and a few mates are thinking about going to V this year aswell as Glasto and Leeds, so i was just wondering what is it like compared to these 2 cos everyone ive spoke to has said its shit and mainstream. What time to the headliners finish about? What is there to do after the bands? Cinema Tents or Silent Discos????

THANKS x

My friend fell on someone's tent last year, she certainly is not a Chav, she is a doctor but tripped up.

I have been to the above mentioned festivals and found Reading/Leeds to be the Chaviest (if we are throwing that word around), the camping conditions were not great and allowing fires when you have thousands of very young pished up kids is asking for trouble, but then again I have only ever been there when there has been trouble, by the masses.

The thing is I would visit all Festivals gradually and find which suits you, opinions are like arse holes.

You can not compare Glastonbury to any other festival really, unless you compare what Bestival is like now based on Glastonbury 20 years ago, it being sooo huge could be one of it's down falls, but very very good experience but can not be compared.

My experience of V has been nothing but positive, the Indie Dicso (which is a Friday night party in a tent) is rocking, I have never had any trouble, I find the people who attend "are usually" slightly older than the average festival. Last year was loud on the Friday night with the arrival of the Oasis fans and I think they drank themsleves in oblivian by Saturday. Personally I love it! by the time I have laughed and drank with my friends and watched the bands I have wanted to see, all I want to do is sit around the tens and laugh again with my friends anyway.

Its a bit like having your ear tongued by an over affectionate spanial while at the same time having your bank account voluntarily plundered...

...and by that I mean you'll have a great weekend with your mates, spend far too much money & there will probably be a few bands on you want to see perform...and a few more you'd want to see perform death-defying acts without the 'defying' bit (you know who you are N-Dubz...)

'indie' has summed it up pretty well...its a great weekend...but if the line-up was less chart-centric and the capacity was smaller and it was a day more music it would be an amazing weekend...

Having done one or two fests:

V 08 & 09

Reading 94, 95,96, 99, 2000

Glasts 1997 (one of the somme years!)

all of them have their good parts and bad parts as mentioned by other:

Reading / Leeds have the worst rep for tent trashing, theiving and people being t*ts but personally I've never had an issue (white camp site all the way!)

V is quite mainstream but there's usually enough to keep me happy - Oasis' last gig and the mayhem that was Pendulum were great last year as was Muse in 08

Glastonbury well it was a long time ago that I went but it is the bollox - best of everything and it doesn't really matter if the music's rubbish as there's so much else to do but it's a bit commitment you're talking now of ariving on the Tuesday night and leaving the following Monday don't know if my marriage, liver and wallet could stand that.

It's Reading for me this year!

+1. V was a let down after Glasto, and if I'd have gone to V first, don't think I'd have bothered trying another festival. Not after a chav jumped on my tent while I was sleeping in it, or watching every conceivable wall space being taking up by men (and women!) pissing against it.

V is quality, it's full of people going for a laugh with their mates and watch some decent (and not so decent) bands.

No looking for 'an experience' blah blah blah crap. If you want that, f**k off to GinaFest!
