YumYum
I have just be told that similarly to last years Glasvegas/ Gossip this year will be The Maccabees and Julian Casablancas of The Strokes. Speaking to The Maccabees after there Brighton gig yesterday, my friend asked them if there doing any festivals this year, Hugo i think he said, told him there contracted to be a headliner of the 2nd stage similarly to Glasvegas last year, however there currently negotiating on who gets a longer slot The Maccabees or Julian, this could be my friend having a joke, but as he is going Leeds with me this year i doubt it, so yenno watch this space. ALLHALLOWS
That sounds entirely likely though I reckon The Maccabees will get the longer set.
moz4pm
i've a feeling many of the l/r regular goers are gonna do download instead this year, especially after last nights announcement, i'm one of them
thomasowen
Would be perfect for me as long as they didn't clash obviously.

stylishkids
Yh I think this will be true. I said a while back that I think Reading/Leeds have to have one of the nme awards bands to headline the tent for sponsorship/to get all 4 bands to play the fest and due to none of the bands been big enough they'll have co-headliners to off set the problem like last year. I hope that Julian gets the longer set he was excellent in Manchester in December and reckon he could even better that especially with talk of him bringing all the stage set up over, though I won't be too fussed either way. I won't be watching the Maccabees so could see the main stage headliner if he was second or I get a longer set if he headlines so good both ways. It'll probably be the Friday at Leeds this is always the day when the nme awards band headlines the tent.

sjp_121
Maccabees=Meh for me. But Julian Casablancas would be good. Hopefully would be the same night as Blink if they play.
kev1664
Julian has been added as a rumour, Maccabees have been updated to strong rumour. All time low have also been added as a strong rumour. Not the kind of rumours were looking for though!

rexclark
I'd be quite happy with Julian Casablancas but I'm definately not a big fan of Maccabees and don't think deserve such a high spot.

VCK
I'm not too keen on Julian's solo stuff, hope he chucks in one or two Strokes covers. After all, that's what a lot of people will be there for!

rexclark
Do you base "deservedness" on whether you like them or not? They have played R/L every year for (I think) the last five years (Probably four though!) and pretty much filled the NME last year at Reading. I think that's pretty deserving? rexclark
Cribs were easily big enough, alot of demand to see them and they play the right size venue. Edited February 17, 2010 by rexclark
scottt
Definatelely and they got a massive crowd but when they were announced people were sceptical whereas they weren't about The Manics or Babyshambles. I'm not saing any of these bands don't deserve there spot and in alot of cases they step up and put on an amazing performance but when the initial announcement comes out people aren't to sure about them headlining. Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't.
