Thing is people will rant over this but its not really any different from Girls Aloud playing [and they've played twice] its just a male group instead of a girl group. You can also add All Saints, The Saturdays, Sugababes im im sure theres countless others too.

I wouldn't expect it to be with Robbie though but the four of them could play, I just don't think they should be given a huge slot, if they play a similar, slightly higher slot than Girls Aloud have had, it should be fine.

Are you people joking? I don't think it'll happen but Take That would headline for sure.

Ok the majority of them don't play any instruments but they have had far far more success and number one singles and albums and have more material, than recent headliners and rumoured headliners.

Not a massive fan myself but come on...

comments like that are just dumb, it sells out every year, thing is with download and soni taking the rock acts, reading takes more indie bands and thus v books more pop. Which looks like the way its guna stay, if thats the case they may as well go after the big guns. People need to face it v is a pop festival. Its had to adapt to stay successful, which it is.

Lucky's spot on here. V has evolved into a pop orientated festival cornering a market that no-one else is targeting. Like rock music? Download & Sonisphere are there for you. Like rock & indie/trendy music - Reading&Leeds (although it's yet to be proven whether their line-up last year was the 1st signs of a demographic shift or if there simply weren't the rock acts available?).

V was the first festival I went to (2005) and have returned every year although unless they pull something special out of the bag last year will be my last. The poppier/T4 At the Beach acts don't appeal to my tastes, on the Sunday (staffs) there was nothing on the main-stage that remotely appealed to me until 6pm.

I still think V is perfect for festie newbies. If you go & enjoy the whole experience then I'd definitely suggest trying elsewhere. If you're worried about 'riots' at Leeds? Don't believe the hype! There were loads more chavs at V last year & if you like rock music I can't recommend Download enough. Best festival I've ever been to & the friendliest by a mile.

You all have to look deep into your hearts and remind yourself of how many Take That songs you like. And how many would find yourself singing along to whilst listening to Heart in the car stuck in traffic on the way to work (but you only listen for traffic updates, I know).

If you are still in denial of your secret man love for them I urge you to listen the Circus album, cos it's fecking ace.

I don't see it happening. They would definately be close to or even headlining. If they headlined it would be the end of whatever credibility v fest has left. V will be a total pop fest if this is the case.

However I must say if V has managed to book them elsewhere on the bill it really will be a great booking we all know there sings off by heart and as much as we try to deny it there songs are bloody catchy.

Personally I'm hoping V ain't gonna be so pop this year, I don't mind there being some pop acts but not dominated cheesy tosh

I don't understand why so many people complain about V being a pop festival when Reading is on a week later, why don't you just go there if your desperate for a Rock festival?

I think Take That would be a great addition. It would be great if they didn't use up a headline slot too but I wouldn't see that happening for a band that can sell out a place like Wembley.

Im not a pop fan in any way shape or form, but i went to see them at the ricoh arena ( i live virtually next to the place so had to!) and they were actually really good. They put on a great show so they'd be perfect to hedline this type of festival. Even though i wouldent go to see em if the lieks of kiings of leon or the prodigy are on at the same time on a different stage!

That is a good way of looking at it mate. Back when I first started going there were nowhere near as many festivals on the go so V had a good chance of booking who they wanted. As soni, download and R+L have got more popular, they have begun to satisfy the needs of the niche crowds for their givenn genres. Whereas V 8 years ago was a good blend of mostly indie with some rock and a little pop, it has in turn evolved to cater for the only real niche left which pop... download and sonisphere book all the good rock/metal bands and likewise R+L get most of the indie and some of the rock which leaves V a way down the pecking order.

I very much doubt I will be at V this year after doing 7 consective years but it really has altered its musical direction. I always have a good time where ever I go but the major attraction of going to a festival is to see bands and last year at V, I was interested in only 3 acts way down the bill

I think there will be quite a bit this year

As well as having 2 headliners like Kasabian and Kings of Leon, I also expect to see Stereophonics, White Lies, Editors, Vampire Weekend, The Courteeners all announced and maybe Paul Weller, Ian Brown, The Charlatans, Kulashaker, The Zutons, Fran doing his solo thing or with Travis again? maybe Doves too?

and The Prodigy [even tho they're nowhere near Indie]

Could be a good year.

I still expect shit loads of pop too and some dance, but if its a nice blend you won't notice.

15 anniversary, even though V haven't made this point at all. 10th anniversary was a really good line up I thought, strong acts throughout both days.
