Tent advice please!

OK, so having made the decision to go to Glasto without MrP&P this year, I won't be able to take my usual, trusty, ordinary 'poles and flysheet and inner and groundsheet and pegs and guyropes' dome tent (it's too heavy for me to carry, it won't fit in my liftshare's car, and I can't pitch it alone).

So... I'm thinking about buying a pop-up. It'll only be for me and what stuff I don't wang in the lockup, so a 2man is fine. I've seen LOADS of them about at Glasto over the last few years, but never actually spoken to someone who's owned one.

I've found lots of options online, but:

Quechua and Gelert Quickpitch ones, which seem to be the most popular makes, are only 1000 hydro head, and single skin? Not good? Sweaty? Leaky? :P

HiGear Pitch and Go are 2000 hydro head, but still single skin. But flowery :P : http://www.gooutdoors.co.uk/hi-gear-pitch-...d-print-p146912

And then this Eurohike Flash is 2000 hydro head AND double skinned. And only weighs 3.3kg. But not flowery :P : http://www.millets.co.uk/camping/tents/pop...ct/095914.html#

What experiences have people had with pop-up tents? Should I go for it? Any advice muchas appreciated!

Don't put Quechua in the same bracket as Gelert!

Quechua (Decathlon) invented pop ups - they're all double skinned and bomb proof. Never read a bad word about them.

Gelert, on the other hand, do make some rubbish and tales of woe and wetness are common.

I took a pop up tent last year as I went on my own for the first time and wanted something that was easy to put as I wouldn't have help to put up a bigger normal tent.

DON'T DO IT!!!

Unless you go for a larger double skinned one then really don't do it. I had a single skin two man, but there was hardly any space for bed, rucksack & all other stuff and the condensation was terrible!! I had bloody drips dripping on me all the time!

Going on my own again this year but taking our normal 3 man tent with a porch... I'm sure there will be someone to help me if I'm struggling.

as everyone is saying just make sure it's double skinned (why anyone would buy a single skinned one and not expect it to be shit is beyond me! lol)

and perhaps go for one a bit larger than you require as there isn't much price difference and i founf the three man version very comnfortable for just me by myself with all my gear.

my quechua 2 man lasted me so long before i traded her in for a bigger eurohike 3 man version which is itself very good but trickier to put away so if i had to chose between the two it's definitely Quechua (who now take orders online and deliver, which they never used to do!)

i will never go back to so called "proper" tents as the pop ups are so damn easy and convenient.

my next one is going to be this.

Ah, so Quechua ones are double skinned? I'd not looked at the piccy properly.

Thanks everyone for the recommendations - I'm going to Go Outdoors this weekend so I'll have a bimble round, see whether I want a 2 man or a 3 man and then get something off the internet.
