Yes they can make music (sometimes) and play on a stage but no way on earth are they good enough to top the bill. I mean the Futureheads have more conviction and pressence on stage and songs that 85% of the crowd will know. And thats what i would like to see, the crowed getting into it singing along and bouncing around but noway on earth can you do that to Arcade Fire.... Arcade Fire are very much like James Blunt, DRAB

God me im furious at this line-up roumour!

This is the first Reading I'll be missing in 5 years (mainly due to being a poor student rather than not enjoying the festival any more) and the Arcade Fire are the first rumoured act I'm actually jealous you guys will get to see. Blink 182 and My Chemical Romance do nothing for me but the Arcade Fire are one of the best bands on the planet and are actually making me regret my decision to blow my student loan on a Glastonbury ticket rather than a Reading one. I understand that they don't have a back catalogue full of massive hits like you expect from your headliners but they make such incredible music that you should be privileged that they are willing to perform at your festival after supposedly saying that they were done with British festivals a few years ago.

Just listen to Funeral properly, you will love it, it is in my opinion one of the best albums of the last decade. Neon Bible, despite not being quite as good as Funeral, is still brilliant. The third record will probably also be amazing (assuming it is released this year) and tracks from it will be the real highlights of the Reading and Leeds Festivals.

Quite sadly if they don't announce any other UK gigs to accompany these Reading and Leeds shows I'll probably end up one of those people paying over the top for tickets come August (assuming I get a job this summer).

This has turned into a rant, so I'm sorry, but please don't waste this opportunity like so many people seemed to last year with Radiohead, you’ll probably regret it eventually.

And after watching the whole set follwoing on from the video you have embeded they are god dam awful.... I mean they have no edge on stage all standing in a line and theres no movement or interaction. Headline act... No chance and if they are god me they will be some roits during this set.

No offence but unless you've seen them you wouldn't know. Regine and the other keyboardist(I think he is) are always all over the stage going mental.

And whoever said they never get the crowd going is wrong, just see their Reading 2005 set!

But if people are content with the bookers having a consistently similar and dull line up (for some) then hold that opinion. But I would like it to be a festival where some people get to enjoy the heavier side of rock whilst people like myself get to experience the delights of more alternative rock acts like Arcade Fire, Radiohead, Interpol etc.

I'm guessing the title of this is an Arcade Fire song title but it just makes me sing this...

You never close your eyes anymore when I kiss your lips.

And there's no tenderness like before in your fingertips.

You're trying hard not to show it, (baby).

But baby, baby I know it...

Who can guess which legendary song that comes from?

That set at Reading 07 was absolutely brilliant. Right down the front centre about 10 rows back and could take it all in. That Wake Up video is good but my personal favourite was Power Out going into Rebellion and the energy of those two songs. Just amazing. I'll be getting a day ticket if they are headlining.

Let's hope some of that turns up then eh?

After a couple of days to digest it, I like the booking of them as headliner since it shows a little bit of originality from FR but personally I'm still not sure if they're popular enough

Will wait until we know more of who's playing as the undercard could be very strong I reckon.

Reckon the atmosphere for AF could be amazing though, provided they pull a large crowd, shame I wasn't really into them in 07. Ah well
