Green Day played L/R 04 in August obviously then the UK leg of the American Idiot tour wasn't until Jan/Feb 2005, and they did not class L/R as part of that tour, they only played at American Idiot off the album of the same name at L/R where as at TITP and Oxegen they played alot of American Idiot as thy cludedthat in the 2005 AI tour.

The Star are a very very untrustworthy source in general. A lot of stories are fabricated an over-sensationalised, compared to the other daily's. I'd generally stick to eFests and Virtual Fests (although they seem to be drunk with their suggestions this year, apparently Leeds has a Festival Republic Main Stage). It's like the Mirror, last year, coming out with Sugababes have dropped out of the festival, whne they werent set to play. I'd keep to a music place for music based rumours, and not trust the Star to the hilt.

Green Day are interesting however and I think it could be public demand that has made the Star publish that, plus eFest's uncertainty over MCR. Although another likely reason for them suggesting it could be something as far fetched as their wardrobe man from 10 years ago lives in Reading and has a second mortgage on a house in Leeds. They really do chat crap most days :P

But with that said, all the hush surrounding the lack of certainity does suggest something is being hidden although I don't want to think it because I could well be let down.

I Think any of you who have already bought your tickets better hope Greenday suddenly appear in the lineup after being removed from rumours. As it stands the 'headliners' (if you can even call them that are shit) Good bands yeah but

2008:

Metallica

ratm

killers

2009 (i was there :P )

arctic monkeys

radiohead

kol

All good bands with recent success and radiohead are just legendary.

Blink-182??!! correct me if i'm wrong but are they not slightly dated now, and how many GOOD songs do they have?

I've personally got myself a titp ticket, going to leeds aswell if thits pile of shit turns itself around :P

I expect with the rest of the line up it will, but thats not the point.

Headliners get that slot for a reason

Yeah I hope They got right for Green Day,the line up would look a little bit less poor! I think our scottish trio deserves more to headline than arcade fire and MCR, I really hope they will subheadline! Mon Biffy!!!

I wonder if people still want to listnen to it, i'm sure they would be quite good but any new stuff coming out?

It seems pretty poor of FR to suddenly use quite an average band as a headliner, especially one which was average a few years ago...

Fair enough then scott, maybe they are worthy of the slot

On another point, i've seen rumours of the gorillaz headlining, anybody see this as a good idea?

i'll use same reasons as for blink, however this time i already have their upcoming album 'plastic beach' and i have to say it is terrible.

I probably sound like i'm just moaning, but i just hope that leeds will pull out a good line up

i'd also say im not extremely picky

350+ artists on my itunes and i like 95% of them

I agree with all the above comments (page 6)

I think Green Day would give L/R festival a bit of 'umph' and would surely be classed as a 'UK Festival exclusive'. We can only hope anyway.

Someone made a good point in another thread that last year Radiohead were on and off the rumour list atleast twice so we can only hope for the same with Green Day.

How a band can go from SR to absolute nothing is strange i think FR may well announce something special this year such as Green Day and Gorillaz with MCR and Arcade Fire as sub headliners respectively-

BLINK 182

???

GORILLAZ

Arcade Fire

GREEN DAY

My Chemical Romance

if this was the case L/R would arguably be one of the strongest UK festivals for sure!

Lets face it, the festival will sell out regardless who is playing. We all know by now that touts buy a shed load of tickets, which Festival Republic refuse to address 'cos they know if they stop the touts there's a risk the festival won't sell out.

I hope Green Day play mind, but I'm not too hopeful.

Looks like GnR are back in the picture with Kerrang reporting the headliners will be them, MCR and Blink.

Personally i still believe it will be something along the lines of;

Blink 182, Arcade Fire and Green Day. Even then everytime Green Day are mentioned it just seems less and less likely!

Come on Festival Republic, sort it out!

I just can't see them having MCR headlining. :P I'd rather them put Pendulum headlining than MCR, yes I said it.

I'm still going to go with

Blink 182

My Chemical Romance

Gorillaz

Arcade Fire

Greenday/Linkin Park (Someone along those lines)

Franz Ferdinand.

:P
