JIM KING Q&A - Questions from 3rd March onwards

Hi,

I think we can all say thanks again to Jim King (Festival Director) for taking the time out to answer all the questions in the /index.php?showtopic=138884">other thread tonight.

I will suggest that thread gets locked and also ask if we can get this one pinned at the top. I also think we should try to keep it for questions only please as it makes it easier for him to go through them and answer them one at a time.

So, if you can post the questions only below am sure Jim will take the time in the near future to answer these.

Also if you can please check the previous threads on what has been asked/answered already if possible as plenty info has been given out already :P

Cheers folks

  • Can you let us know if its the scaled down Arcadia rig used at Bestival 09 or the full size one from Glasto (and being used at Bestival 10) that will be at Rockness this year?

  • How do you find these Q&A sessions? Is it more hassle for you or do you think it actually benefits the festival?

  • You and Rob Da Bank are obviously good friends/business associates, do you think there is scope for a Scottish Bestival or is the festival scene in Scotland at it's peak?

Hi Jim like the poster last week who mentioned about getting into the music promotions business. I am completing my honours degree in journalism at Napier, how do journalists get into the business of writing the group and artists biographies for festival and concert programmes. Like ever since I went on this course, I have a dream of doing music journalism. So I will be trying for all the magazines like Mojo, Uncut, Classic Rock, Record Collector etc.. Writing for concert programmes is quite a lucrative sort of journalism, so Id like to know how you can get the foot in the door there.

Fingers crossed, I will actually post this in the right place this time... dufus

We have bought 3 day camping tickets and are going to be camping on the Fri and Sat nights however we want to pack up the tents, leave the campsite, book into a B&B on the Sunday and return a few hours later to enjoy the final day.

Can we do this, will we get back in without any hassle (will obviously have our tickets and wristbands still on us) and do we need to get another type of pass to do this?? I know that you can come and go as you please as long as you have your wristband and original ticket at T in the Park and other festivals but would like a definitive answer as have heard conflicting stories about Rockness! We just want to end the weekend with a bit of comfort, hot showers and cooked breakfast

Really long shot but a realistic one so here goes....

Can you book Orbital again this year? They were downright incredible and performance of the festival for me last year and can you imagine what people all over the UK will say when they hear that 'Rockness has the two titans of dance music, Leftfield and Orbital on the same bill'? Don't think that's ever happened before and Jim King makes things happen...... :P

As before, if you have any questions which you wish to put to Jim, if you can post below and am sure he will get round to it next time he gets time :P

Great stuff on keeping it questions only in this thread, am sure it makes it a lot easier for Jim to work through them and answer all at once :P

last year we left some booze in the car as we didnt want to carry it all in in one go, when we went to get it on the saturday morning we were told by security that we were not allowed to bring anymore drink into the campsite! can you tell why this is and if it will be the same this year? i dont want to bring a load then have to go home with half of it because i didnt take it all in when we first get there.

Cheers

Hi Jim

been travelling 4 hours up to rockness from the borders every year and really enjoying how the festival is moving along. This year however will be slightly different as 18 of us are coming up for my stag do.

We were all geared up for getting 2 or 3 large tipis as weve had them before and thought they were great but we had heard nothing about them this year so my best man got in touch with boutique camping to find out what was happening as they supplied the tipis last time and they told him that they had not been asked to provide tipis for rockness this year. Is this because you have another supplier this year or will there be no tipis this year? Please let me know asap so that I can arrange something else. Many thanks in advance

Danny
