FannyBaws
Jim, I need the Carling Amnesty to come back or else I'm down a crate of lager I bet my mates who think the Carling Amnesty is something my overactive imagination dreamed up. Any word if it's coming back or anything similar? Line-ups starting to take shape too, liking the last few announcements...
faddythedaddy
Jim, Is there bus links to and from Inverness on the Saturday? Were just coming up for the day and will prob stay in Inverness. Do I need to book these buses or they just shuttles that you dive on? When is the last one? Cheers, and apoligies for the multiple questions! Jim King
What is it that Kevin Bridges will be doing? His own hour set or a few jokes in between bands? Jk – hi Kenny, he will do doing his own set in one of the main arenas. We are just scheduling the timings now and i can release exactly when and when in a few days. Speak soon. Regards. Jim Hi, I was wondering if you could tell me exactly what you are getting for your vip ticket this year? thanks jk – vip gets you your own fast track entry directly into the vip camping area which is close to the arenas. You get your own showers and flushable toilets and generally more space etc. in the main arena there is a separate area for vip ticket holders which has its own bar and entertainment tent as well as nicer toilets etc and generally just an area where you can chill out and get away from the madness. Regards. Jim Will the Rizla bus be back? Jk – as you will now all have heard the might rizla arena has returned. I think they’ve surpassed themselves on line up this as well. Regards. Jim When will all the sponsors be announced? Jk – any remaining ones will be next week. Regards. Jim Hi Jim I just want to say, what a superb line up, one question though will there be a gap or time lapse between Aphex Twins set and Leftfields, would love to catch them both if poss, otherwise I dont know what to do, two of my favorites on at the same time. Jk – we are just sorting/negotiating set times now with the acts and we are endeavouring not to have any really bad clashes. Some acts will insist on only going on last and this means some will be unavoidable but we will stagger whenever and wherever we can. Regards. Jim Why dont you offer open mic spots in the comedy tent? Jk – let me speak to Brett (he books the comedy) and also to howard to see what they think and i’ll come back to you. Regards. Jim Why dont you offer open mic spots in the comedy tent? I second this, it would be hilarious at a festival Jk – hi guy, please see above. I think we would need to have some kind of filter process and after 6 pints like most people i think i’m hilarious and apparently i’m in a minority of 1! Let me check with Brett and see how we could incorporate this. Speak soon. Jim Jim, Can you confirm if any of these arenas are appearing this year? Jk – hi paul, please see below. Speak soon. Jim Rizla Bus – confirmed. Carling Amnesty - Bollywood – confirmed. Go North – confirmed. If not, what do we have in their place, apart from Howards End and Strongbow areas? We also have whiskey bar back, black isle pub will be around but in slighty different set up but they are also supplying beer to howards end. Jim, Any news on Derrick May & Mark Knight? They both appear to have been removed from the line-up, will they be added to the unannounced Arcadia acts on Sunday or are they no longer appearing? If they're no longer appearing, any idea of replacements for them? Jk – mark knight has unfortunately had to cancel and sends his apologies. I’ll be making announcement on a few other acts next week which will be the final one (except go north) so please stay tuned for the announcement. Regards. Jim Will the ceilidh be returning at some point during the weekend it was amazing last year! Jk – we will be having ceilidh again on the Friday night. Regards. Jim Jim, Is this the final version of the site map or will it be updated to show where front row camping is? http://www.rockness.co.uk/information/map Cheers Jk – yes. New site plan in customer friendly format will be available in next 2 weeks for you to print off and bring with you. It will show final positions of all tents, camping areas, stages etc . regards. jim Hi Jim, Can you please indicate on the website or on here exactly where Front Row Camping will be. You have told us that it will be in the purple camping, however will it take up all of purple camping? The map sent out with the tickets (received today) only shows Purple Camping, no sign of Front Row Camping on the map whatsoever. Jk – let me look into that as if you bought front row you should get the right pln showing where it us. Where did you buy tickets from? Regards jim. Ps front row is in the area adjacent to the concessions and vip camping in purple. Hi Jim, Can you confirm whether or not Vitalic's performance will be the 'V Mirror show' or will it just be him DJ'ing? ( I'm not too fussed either way cos he'll still play 'La Rock', but i'm just interested to know ). Jk – playing live. Its not a dj set. Also, just wanna say well done to you and your team for how the festival's shaping up this year, i'm well impressed. None of the headliners interest me much, but there's plenty amazing other acts and i reckon the Arcadia Afterburner is gonna be pretty special. All the best, Marc. Jk – thats great to hear and sorry that line up not to your taste but thanks for the positivity and im sure that you’ll still have an amazing time. Regards. Jim Can you confirm whether or not Vitalic's performance will be the 'V Mirror show' or will it just be him DJ'ing? ( I'm not too fussed either way cos he'll still play 'La Rock', but i'm just interested to know ). It says it's a V-Mirror live set on Vitalic's myspace so assuming it'll be that. Vitalic live cannot be beaten although his dj "selektor" sets are a bit iffy imo. Jk –playing live. Its not a dj set. what time of day will the comedy acts be on at roughly? will they be on during the day or later on at night i.e providing an alternative to the headliners? or are the times still to be decided? Jk – they are mostly late afternoon and early evening time. Regards. Jim Jim, I need the Carling Amnesty to come back or else I'm down a crate of lager I bet my mates who think the Carling Amnesty is something my overactive imagination dreamed up. Any word if it's coming back or anything similar? Line-ups starting to take shape too, liking the last few announcements.. Jk – final sponsors announced next week but I think you’ll be fine on the beer front. Glad you like the last announcements. Not long to go now. Regards. Jim King
Jim, I see Bloody Beetroots are now playing as a Death Crew 77 live set but would there be any scope at all to have them do a DJ set at some other point throughout the day too? A few acts played more than one set last year and I know a lot of people would love to see a BBs DJ set too, they're going to be up at the festival anyway? Hi Jim, Line ups looking good although I think it would look better with myself on it! Just wondering if there are any dj competitions this year? Failing that if your stuck for a dj I'm your man. How about a wee Jim'll fix it? I won a competition to play at EXIT festival last year and I would love to play in the highlands since I'm from there. I've played International festivals but none at home. Lots of love, TheHogg. Jk – we will be having a new dj competition in the last few weeks leading up to the festival. Its being announced next week. Regards. Jim Hi Jim, Not so much a question as a request. Mando Diao have a gap in their fesitval calendar between the 4th & 18th June. Very popular band on the continent just now, not really broke out over here like they should have. Try & book them from Rockness. Pretty please Cheers, GRT Jk – thanks for the tip. Regards. Jim Hi, If i have a weekend camping ticket am i still able to go home at 12 one night and return in the morning as long as i have my wristband if i decided i didnt want to camp that night? In general what are the conditions for leaving and returning to campsite/rockness from outside? please answer, thanks. Jk – Hi. it will be like last year whereby you can have access in and out of the campsites up to a certain time. All info will be published in the next 2 weeks but generally you can bring your stuff onto site and then go back to your car etc for more stuff. Alcohol on the first trip only. You can then leave the campsites at any time. Re entry with a wristband only (i.e after you have already been in once and given your ticket in) is restricted to certain times (usually the mornings up to around lunchtime). Regards. rexclark
Cheers for answering the questions Jim. It's great for us watching the festival growing and I imagine it must be amazing for you. Hopefully see you around the festival. P.S. Have you ever thought of/tried to book Primal Scream? They seem to be the archetypal rockness act, a Scottish act with a mix of Dance and Rock. Paul ™
Jim, Will there be a shop there this year to buy supplies such as juice, crisps, food, rolls, milk and other such stuff?
eodgers
Hey Jim, I was wondering what you mean in the terms and conditions when you say "All persons under the age of 18 must be accompanied by a parent or guardian over the age of 21." Is this 100% valid as many of my friends under the age of 18 went last year unaccompanied by adults Also if an under age person were to take alcohol to the festival would that mean they would have it taken off them and have there ticket rejected? Another question is that I'm wondering if you can get the bands foals/beach house/the horrors playing at the festival as the Saturday is a very specialist day, and there isn't much variety as Aphex Twin and Leftfield are in the same genre, and there are no mainstream bands playing the Saturday Thank you, Regards Eliot Odgers

eodgers
Hey Jim, I bought an "early bird ticket", does this mean I get to go to the festival on the Thursday? as that's what early bird usually means at most other festivals? Please can you give us details on early bird and vip tickets? Thanks

I too have front row camping which was booked through ticketline. I am celebrating my big 30 at Rockness this year and there will be quite a few of us camping together but at the moment I am unsure if we can all get a pitch together if some people have not booked front row camping (because they did not get early bird tickets). Really excited about celebrating my special birthday up there as it is such a great event with such beautiful scenery, fantastic music and brilliant people. saxdog
Jim, i've had a good hunt around ticket sites but can't seem to get any confirmation if it is possible to upgrade tickets already purchased, to VIP ones. This was fine few years back but can't see any options for it now. I've some friends that are VIP and others that are front row so would like to upgrade if possible! Kasabianite
Hi Jim, I realise most if not all acts will now be booked.....HOWEVER whats the chances of Reverend and the Makers or even a Makers Soundsystem dj set? Jon McClure has confirmed that the band are not booked that weekend, and he is very keen to see what Rockness is all about....he just doesn't know who books the fest to get it sorted! I wouldnt imagine they'd be too pricey to book at all.... and they'd be ideal for an early evening slot imo!!!
