What metal bands will appear this year?

Pop Punk has been getting more and more mainstream, sadly a lot of it's rubbish, and it's musically less interesting than the better 'Indie' bands, but hopefully it will lead to bands like Weezer & Rancid getting the same kind of coverage bands like The Cure have been getting for inspiring the latest wave of bands.

If that made any sense at all?

Its easy to see the argument from both sides. But what i dont understand is people who will pine for certain bands at Reading/Leeds when they can see the same bands at Download or now Sonisphere.

You cant be sticking to Reading for the atmosphere because it died when Reading became a 'trendy' festival full of accent-indie loving border line chavs. If you like metal...go to a rock festival.

Readingleeds is now and has always been the festival that houses the genere trend of the time. Last year it was Indie, a few years ago it was more rock. Its just how it is.

Indy is on its way back to quietening down, itll never go away because it never did before. But as has been said...pop punk (dont like that term because i like to think of bands like blink 182, NFG as pop punk. not youmeatsix and metro station and so on) is taking over the charts, the radios and the fashion scene.

Music always works in cycles.

I just dont see any basis for real complaint if youve got other festivals which cater to what you want!

The only thing i miss about Reading is the lock up stage, i cant get that calibre of punk band at Download and Sonisphere and thats a shame.

I havent observed pop/punk taking over at all. I dont believe it has crossed over to the mainstream like indie. I dont believe those who buy cheryl cole, n dubz and take that albums are buying paramore or you me at six albums. Despite the fact that this group over recent years have bought albums by kaiser chiefs, kings of leon and arctic monkeys. There are a few big pop punk bands about but far more indie bands who can release massive albums.

a bit of topic, but with the slagging off of Ax7 i have tell a story

when i went to reading in 2008 Avenge sevenfold were ment to be playing but pulled out.

when the host at the sart of the day cam out to annoce this he said 'its becase he has a terrible throat.'

to which a man standing near shouteds back: 'coz hes been sucking too many cocks!'

if i ever meet this man, i will buy him a drink.
