I think you all know by now that I like a bit of classic F1. Well... the Beeb has put up the 35min highlight show for the 1990 Australian Grand Prix

The especially good bit about this is the end of season MONTAGE - skip to about 30.45. I will warn that there's a bit of Nigel Mansell talking - which may make you fall asleep - but the footage of him driving should more than make up for that :P

Like many have said, I don't think you can make a call on what the quality of racing will be like from one race on brand new rules alone.

It will take time for teams to develop strategies etc and drivers to also get used to racing under these conditions.

If it gets no better in the short term, I think its a relatively easy fix, let the top 10 start on new tires for starters, if there's still no action, make 2 stops mandatory, to allow drivers to really go for it on the tyres.

Problem solved. Then next year the double defusers are banned which will fix everything of course :P

I am very worried about this season, its looking like it's going to be boring with even less opportunity for overtaking than in previous years. Still, I'll give it a few more races before I decide.

The thing is, it can be very easily fixed - just change the rules for aerodynamics so cars can slipstream like they used to. It'll also mean less grip which will mean the best drivers should come through. They've been trying stupid rules for quite a while now, which have happily proved that the cars just can't get close enough to each other.

Watching the 'classic GP's' on the BBC website has made me remember why I fell totally in love with F1 as a small child (I loved John Watson and had his number on my pedal car as a 4 year old) - it was the excitment. There's more overtaking in each classic GP than there is in most seasons in the last 5 or 6 years!

I think McLaren got it spot on. Lewis was amazing today, but he was never going to beat Jensen on tyre management. They split the strategy on the basis that if Button couldn't make them last, no-one else would either, and therefore Hamilton would win the race.
