Garde Champetre 4.00 masses of experience round here and not many big outsiders win this. Weight might beat him but you will get a run for sure.

Had First Lieutenant among a few bets today. Was my only winner but still made a wee profit on it, which I'll probably lose tomorrow

Over the 2 days I'm £1.65 down...so I'm going to reduce the amount of fags I smoke tomorrow by 5!

Probably the toughest day today (thurs). Actually--there hasn`t been any real outsiders so far but the bookies will be happy enough to date.

Wouldn`t like to be thinking I had a penny on today.

So....

2.05 A nightmare from a betting perspective so three against the field :Barafundle , Lush Life & Knockara Beau

First named has a decent chance but tends to clout a few and will be punished if he does so again,but is improving and could be up there at the end. Lush Life was crap last time but has won here and Hendersons mis-fortune might change--been drastically unlucky so far. However, I`d give an outsiders chance to Knockara Beau..for the following reason- he was put in the next parish by Grand Crus here two runs back..but came out and made all under top weight to win at Carlisle giving the form a cracking boost. Will do extremely well to be thereabouts under a big bag of spuds today--but could be a pointer for the days main event later.

2.40. Another difficult race. Poquelin was beat in this last year..just wasn`t good enough Ruby said. And he doesn`t look any better 12m on--against similar rivals..so not for me. Voy Pur Ustedies would pick this lot up and carry em if anywhere back to his best--but thats a big if. This will be his 1st run for Henderson..interesting. But I`d go with Kalahari King..has been a talking horse on many occasions and if he gets it all right--he would be good enough. Ferdy Murphy doesnt go many Festivals without a winner..and this might be the one.

3.20 The big one. Two horse race on paper and will be a suprise if Big Bucks and Grand Crus don`t fight out the finish. However-- I think it might be an upset and go with Grand Crus. I PMd someone on here after this one scooted home at Cheltenham and said to get on at 4/1 if they could. My reasoning for going against BB is this-- he always hits this flat spot in his races -- Grand Crus is likely to be in the lead turning in--and if he kicks like he did last time--- he could have Ruby having to go for broke ealier than usual. BB has to be beat sometime--and today might be the day.

Fascinating race to watch.
