Tents..

Well, for someone of my height 5"10 - standing height is a bit out of the question - also, the friend I'm taking is alot shorter that I am :P

One bedroom would be fine. Have looked at Quencha pop ups - but they seem a bit on the small side..

I would like to add - I am SO damn excited that a tent is the only thing I'm missing from my check list!

Ah, the ubiquitous tent porn thread.

Can I recommend Rage tents - I've had several and they're very good indeed.

For what you want I'd recommend this one:

I used it for several years until it died in the bestival mud of 2008. The sleeping compartment is only 2 person, but it's got a massive porch thaty's big enough to store all your gear plus boots etc, comfortably.

If you do have the budget they do do a 3 person version too:

Now I've got kids who camp I've upgraded to this one

If there is 2 of you, this millets standby will probably do you

The problem, there are quite a few of them at the festival, however if a millets is near you, take a look at one, they often have earlier versions of the same design cheaper

I agree, and yet... and yet...

I'm thinking of buying a 1 man tent for this year.

Reasons:

- I'm going by train, and any reduction in bulk/weight is good

- I won't arrive til Weds afternoon, so being able to pitch in a small space is useful

- It's only for sleeping.

If it can fit in me, my camp bed and my rucksack, without anything leaning on the walls and causing a leak, I'm golden. Oh gotta have a porch for muddy boots too.

that looks wicked, looks plenty big enough for 2 people , not like some '2 man tents'

but i couldnt see any mention of the hydrostatic head?

this could be the one for me, providing its hydrostatic head is good enough to take it to glasto :P

thanks

mark

Thinking of getting a 2-man pop up from Decathlon mentioned on this thread. Lightweight and from comments on here and elsewhere it seems to be pretty waterproof too! It's just me so need a lightweight one and lots of other tents i've looked at seem to be twice the weight.

Only thing is, how can you carry it to/ from the car?! It's a massive round thing? I will be taking a rucksack... don't have a trolley thing. Any ideas?

Rucksack will be fine. It folds into a disc shape which slips inside the bag - which is also disc shaped with straps on the back for easy carrying. You can clip the straps to the back of your rucksack - you probably won't even feel the extra weight.

Dead easy.

Edit: Found a photo for you:

These straps can be unclipped easily to attach to something else, if you haven't got room to sling it over your shoulders.

I so have to get one of these...Even if it's just to really annoy everyone who's been struggling to put up their tents for half an hour :P

Would you recommend getting a 2-man one for me + luggage? Or will a 1 man do the job?
