sjp_121
I have a Spanish Oral exam next week, And Im more worried about the this than that Although GnR aren't GnR, I still think they would be a damn good band to see. And Im pretty sure Slash might appear on the bill somewhere. He has said he is doing some festivals in the UK, including Download and in talks with a few others. rockinthecasbah
Arctic Monkeys were offered a headline slot but turned it down - I don't know if it was before their album came out though, I doubt it.
eFestivals
I'm sure I remember Neil saying that they were originally down as NME headliners in 2006, but were moved to sub-headliners because of how big they subsequently got. If I remember rightly (and I might not be, it was a long time ago), they were offered a high-up slot on the main but not headliner, but they insisted they wanted to play in the tent. But didn't they then and up on the main anyway, cos there was no way they'd been safe to play in the tent? Dan R
What I dont get about the whole GnR thing is that people are just excited about the name If they were called something else, there wouldn't be a hope in hell of them headlining All the other members have their own side projects, who im guessing play some GnR stuff (don't call me on that lol) but Axl's no different. mjsell
Yes, but GnR will only play songs by GnR. Cause regardless of members, they are GnR.

beLIEveR
The Sun definatley reported that they were offered a headline slot, I don't know how acurate the report was though.

Sparticus
Nine Inch Nails works the same way, people wouldn't doubt them. Anyway, according to the site there are four Oxegen headliners, which surely means Arcade Fire + Jay-Z must be co-headlining, therefore setting up AF + Libs/MCR? rexclark
Jeeso, I go away for a couple of days and this happens. My opinion on this new news is this, I don't think Libertines will headline but as has been said, they could've been begged pretty recently to add a bit of talking points to the line up and get people excited or it could just be a rumour that comes to pass. I'm not too fussed as long as Arcade Fire are still playing. On the subject of GnR, a few people may have noticed I've been very vocal on here on my support of GnR. I've been hoping they'd play for quite a while, they're a huge name and really beefs up the line up. I know there are alot of people who are totally doubting there ability and saying they're no more than a tribute band which is fine. But I would suggest if you're a fan of them to go see them. They were amazing in 2002 at Leeds and although I heard bad reviews of them at Download form recen reviews and videos I've watched they look tight. People may say It's not Gnr without the rest of the band which is true, but you can teach someone how to play the Slash guitar solos but you'll never be able to get someone to sing like Axl. If he turns up in the right state of mind they would be immense. For me this years line up is looking better than ever. Obviously it's not alot of peoples cup of tea but thats life. At least this year there's a bit of mystery and excitement to the line up which there hasn't been for years. Bring on the 29th!

tom91
Haha ive always thought this. Do people think as soon as they book bands, they add them to this poster, rather than just making one when theyre gonna release it?
