The Headliners are

Libs have gotten massive over the last few years though as people were introduced to their music around the time and just after they split.

Just look at the hoards of Pete + Carl loving Myspace posing 17 year old girls. They'll lap it up along with blink.

Carl has just been on 6music, talking about his new album.

Would he really blow the chance of establishing himself as a solo to do The Libs this year when he could do the Libs at any time? I wouldn't have thought so.

Babyshambles are also currently recording, for an autumn release.

Both these things make The Libs look massively unlikely, unless there's been lots of desperate begging and hugely vast amounts of money thrown about.

A Libs return would surely regenerate interest in all their side projects and the like though? I could imagine Pete and Carl doing solo shows in the NME on the same day which a lot of people would likely check out, then they'd get a nice bit of money on the side for a full blows headline slot as well.

I'm just thinking of all the possibilities, I'm not a bit Libs fan at all and couldn't care less about the members but a lot of people do.

As long as Arcade Fire are definitely playing, I'm happy on that front.

Has there been anything about Interpol playing on the AF day floating around? I know there's been a lot of general banter about it, but that's likely people just getting too hopeful/idealistic. An AF/Libs co-headline with Interpol subbing would be a pretty big coup for an 'indie' day.

The last time you said the headliners were the 8th Feb for the Leeds fest. Just wondering if you have had the headliners information since then or a similar time or have just recieved it? If you've just recieved it then maybe the libs were planned to headline 2011 but with the negative reaction that efests mainly generated maybe they threw a few hundred grand at them to do it a year earlier.

Cheers for the info. I reckon the Libs (or GNR) were a late booking then. It would probably be easier to get a 2011 headliner (if they are) to bring it forward a year than a completely new one at such late notice.

From one angle, yep.

But it doesn't add up for the Libs, because there's strong reasons why they'd knocked back the opportunity to play this year.

Not going to lie, really can't be sacked with GnR headlining. Were a touch overrated at the time when they had Slash, but now they're just dire. I appreciate plenty of people will enjoy them but for me I literally could not think of a worse headline-worthy band.
