Surely Arcade Fire headlining Oxegen would mean Leeds would not want them as headliners!? I thought this year they were huge on purely exclusive headliners, thus making blink, libs and gnr fit. Although i'm still holding out on Gorillaz, has any more been said about them!? I heard they were considered as NME headliners along with Hole...

and finally, do you think QOTSA are likely to play!?

They don't only have exclusive headliners, but it's what they prefer to have.

Oxegen is in Ireland. It's exceedingly unusual for any exclusivity deals to stretch across national boundaries.

And in fact R/L have been happy enough on many occasions for the exclusivity of a headliner to only be 'an English exclusive' rather than 'a UK exclusive'.

Sometimes one or more of the headliners isn't exclusive at all.

Gave keese's username a quick search and something about checking Download ticket prices came up on the DL forum, which could mean he works for a ticket agency.

I must admit I was a little surprised when I saw his Facebook photo though, I was expecting a more conventional office worker if true.

Neil - is it still possible AF and Libs can co-headline? That'd justify both sources.

yep, tho if it happened I'd say that AF will be the last on stage, from the word that's reached me.

But I find it difficult to believe the Libs are playing for all sorts of reasons and bits of info I've had, including info from what should be an exceedingly good source I've had today since this thread was started.

being a massive libs fan i find it pretty unlikely that they will be playing going on what carl has said before about turning down masses of money so he can concentrate on his own stuff. also efestivals do you know of any other bands rumoured to be playing or are they all the same as in the 'line up' section?

From reading this post, info on other posts, and my own research (which isn't that thorough, but sorta confirmed stuff for me)

Blink is a definite. No argument.

According to Niel, and what I have seen from a few Arcade Fire interviews saying they are in the UK playing festivals it looks like Arcade Fire will play. I wouldn't be surprised if they did headline at all.

Green Day have seemed likely, but then they've been taken off the rumour list, not sure why, but that is now quite unlikely

If Green Day did play, I would suspect MCR to play underneath them. Because Green Day seem not to be playing, MCR may have been provisionally "boosted" to headliners. And kept that way until FR found a replacement, if not then they would leave them there.

GnR may have only recently been booked, in the last month or so as a Green Day replacement, so based on my random theories, I think they are a good possibility.

Finally The Libertines, although I would love it if them and GnR headlined, I doubt it based on many people saying they are back in 2011. They would be a brilliant booking by FR, whether you like them or not, they are a band quite a few festivals will want next year, so a booking this year gives R+L a slight advantage.

Maybe though, because of the comeback, and the loss of interest by the Tabloids of Doherty, they could be sub headliners to Arcade Fire, or joint. Suspect it all depends on their egos.

Have you heard anything specific about Guns N Roses or is that still up in the air on your rumour mill?

I've heard nothing specific, but a few bits and pieces have indicated that they might well be playing (tho might not be).

It looks like they've only got one fest scheduled this summer so far, in June at Sweden Rock Festival in ... erm... Sweden. :P

But as fests go, I'd say that makes them pretty much a second tier band nowadays, so if they are playing I'd guess that puts them quite a way from being R/L's preferred choice.
