The Headliners are

Lostprophets had a biggish crowd if I remember and FNM had a very small crowd for the Radio 1 tent. But this is not surprising given the main stage headliners. A large proportion of the punters would be into music like the headliners KOL, Radiohead, Monkeys and so the 2nd stage 'alternaitve' acts were never going to get big crowds. If they were at Download, they would get much bigger crowds. Gallows and AFI hardly had anyone watching them relative to the size of the Radio 1 tent.

That's why it would make perfect sense to me if they were headlining the tent. I couldn't quite gauge before if Neil's comment that it didn't occur to him that Arcade Fire may be headlining the NME stage was sarcasm or not.

To me it would be a much more obvious choice. Arcade Fire are nowhere near big enough (IMO) to headline the main stage. IMO they're not even as big as Lostprophets, who did headline the tent.

If Guns 'n' Roses are playing, they will be headlining. I don't think anyone has any doubt about that. Personally I'm not best pleased about that, but I'd rather them than Arcade Fire, just for the credibility of the festival.

The Libertines, if true, I think could have a last minute booking, maybe brought forward from next year when I understand they had agreed to play. Maybe when Green Day pulled out they had difficulty finding anyone else so they gave Pete a ring and gave him a pile of dosh to bring it forward a year. People saying that they're not big or popular enough to headline the main stage may be right, but there would be the huge publicity factor of the reform and it would be a massive exclusive. I don't think it's any worse than having the Arctic Monkeys headline.

If this Libertines thing is true it looks like I'm going to end up breaking my promise not to go back to Reading for the second straight year (Radiohead did this to me last year). Got into them just as it was all coming to the end so never got a chance to see them first time round.

Hopefully the Arcade Fire are on the same day so I don't end up going for a weekend ticket. They're way to big for the NME tent, they're new album is one of the most highly anticipated releases of the year so I'd assume they're going to get bigger regardless of how good it is. If the first two are anything to go by it should be pretty brilliant

Surely, this makes it much more legit and proves why he is confident that "his source gets it right every year" with the tickets going on sale in 10 days there is no way someone at ticket master wouldn't be aware of it ? why has no one picked up on this post, Neil ?

I have done. And I've read things far more closely than you. His info defo isn't from Ticketmaster.
