All stages will finish before AC/DC start

So, Andy Coppin has confirmed via twitter that on the Friday all of the other 3 stages will end before AC/DC start.

Good news for people who wanted to watch BFMV & AC/DC but IMO poor showing for ANY fextival to essentially force people into watching 1 act.

I reckon you're going to need to stake your place on the mainstage early to get a good spot! Doesn't bother me too much as AC/DC are the main attraction for my group of mates. I am worried that this will have an impact on the number of acts announced for Fridays mainstage though.

Thoughts?

Theyve already said Fridays main stage will be quite small because they want to set up ACDCs full tour stage.

Im not huge on the idea of all bands ending before they start, there needs to be other things for the people who arent ACDC fans. Ill be watching them, but it will just be a cluster f**k of people.

The arena on Friday opens at 2pm this year too, later then usual I think? No official reason why but rumours are it's to do with ACDC's stage show.

This is good news for me as it gets rid of the ACDC BFMV clash, but its still pretty weak on Downloads part to seemingly cave into ACDC's imo unreasonable demands.

I actually think it's a good idea. Andy can do nothing right at the moment it seems according to everyone. He trys to end other stages so they can all watch the greatest band they will ever witness and then people are hating him for it??

What more can the guy do?

I think it is a great idea and if people do not wanna watch AC/DC then go to the camp site, you've watched Bullshit For My Valentine and if your not fussed about dc then go to camp.

I honestly do not see what all the fuss is about. When you book the biggest band in the world, there will be some things people aren't happy with.

I'm ok with it, it definitely points to a DVD being filmed, which will be a nice momento of the weekend, and whilst I couldnt really give a f**k about BFMV, there will be other early headliners on the other stages to check out. I still hope there are more than 3 bands on main stage friday though.

If ACDC playing means Raging Speedhorn don't get booked to open the main stage at 12 noon and Bullet play early allowing their fans to go to bed early then I can live with that.

It's a small price to pay as ACDC headlining is going to be HUGE!! And I for one one can't f**king wait!!!

no one's seems to have considered that maybe the bands playing the other stage have asked for this so they can also watch AC/DC, at the end of the day they are rock fans as well and AC/DC will have probably influenced most of the bands headlining the other stages.

AC can't seem to do anything right with some people and I get the impression that when he gets all the criticism it gets to him because he always thanks those that have supported announcements he has made on twitter plus, and this is his own doing, he has opened himself up to fans of Download to approach him and he seems to get a hell of a lot of stick through it. This year it looks like he's booking the bands and arranging download from more of a rock fan's view rather than an impartial organiser and I personally think he's doing a damn good job, this is shaping up to be the best download ever.

I suffered last year watching Slipknot and ZZ Top, as I was so far back and unable to push through the crowd that I had to make do. I really didn't feel the atmosphere for either band. I had especially hoped to enjoy ZZ Top and in the end my view coupled with their performance meant I felt I was going through the motions with them. If I'd have been nearer the front I'd have enjoyed it more.

Hence I think I'll be happy to get down there before Them Crooked Vultures go on - then I can have no complaints. I expect it to be jam packed and a little uncomfortable, but worth it for this one-off opportunity.

AWFUL idea. The main advantage of having different bands on different stages as far as i've seen it crowd distribution. Not a great idea to have everyone at the festival heading to, being around and leaving the same stage all in one go.

AC/DC need to have their f**king egos cut down to size. Honestly having them take over the main stage for the day to set up some ridiculous Spinal Tap stage show was bad enough, but now we're being forced to watch them?!?

I say this as someone who is fully planning on going to watch them, but I paid for a festival not an AC/DC gig. I want to be able to see someone else if I get bored of them.

The point is you kind of are? Fair play doing away with the BFMV clash is a good idea but having absolutely no alternative, not even a small band on the 3rd/4th stage is a bit poor. Just because you & I are AC/DC fans doesn't mean everyone is.
