You seem to be mistaking Maccabees for someone experimental, interesting or alternative. They're not, they're just an average indie-pop band who have an annoying habit of doing quiet/whispery verses followed by mildly catchy choruses.

Not terrible, but will never be important.

In 2005 it was the Killers, Bloc Party, Futureheads and Kaiser Chiefs. Not one band with more than one decent album.

None of these are a match for the Maccabees. No matter how popular they are. The Maccabees will kill this slot!

Great band who deserves their chance!

Doubtful mainly because radio airplay goes to the likes of the Killers and the Kaisers, something easy on the ear, but ultimately shit.

Bloc Party must be as big as they'll ever get and they didn't headline last year.
