worldcupfootball
If you are a poet, have a modern voice, and are influenced by music and rhythm, you should check out spoken word readings in London. In dimly light celebration venues, poets come up one by one and read their work, oftentimes supported by live music. You can hear the words' inflections, speak to the writers, and everyone snaps instead of clapping when they appreciate a piece. Also, most of the poetry is young and inspired by current themes -- the modern city, technology, and how life and relationships are processed by Generation Y. If you want a more in depth look, scoot yourself to the London Word Festival, which is held in Hackney once a year and has grown exponentially since its first year in 2008.
