Finally we have our festival back...

Confirmed to me when a "friend" on facebook posted that the line up was rubbish because Kings of Leon weren't there, and that they didn't know any of the bands.

Hopefully we can have real music lovers back, and not just the Radio 1 brigade that came for Kings of Leon because they'd heard it played on hollyoaks.

Should be a good weekend

This is the quote,

"kinda wishes i was going to V Fest instead.

i just really wanna see kasbian. and i'd chop a limb off to see kings again!"

Anyone caught saying things like this should be banned lol...

Think it is one of the better first announcements for a while. Alot more alternative than last year, seriously thought I was at V Festival. Be good to see Modest Mouse.

Hoping NOFX will be the band playing twice on main stage and lock up!

I hate to agree on things like this as I've always thought that festival stereotypes were massively exaggerated.....until last year.

We sold our early bird Leeds tix & went to Download but I also went to V (for the last time) with the missus. Loads of people I know who previously wouldn't have dreamt of attending Leeds & only ever went to V went last year, when asking them who they were looking forward to they only knew that Arctic's, KOL & Kaisers were playing & didn't care about anything else. V was horrendous & but from a selfish point of view the main stage was dead for the bands I was looking forward to (Biffy & The Specials) enabling me to have plenty of room at the front. Quote of the weekend from a bloke to his missus walking away from the front of the main stage 3 songs into Biffy 'I'm not listening to this racket, sounds like bloody Pantera'................How I'd have loved to see Pantera playing to a V crowd.

Some of these generalisations about kings of leon fan are a load of rubbish and music snobbery at its worse. Kings of leon headlined glastonbury and second headlined reading/leeds before sex on fire was even released. So to tar all their fans with the same brush is stupid.

Kasabian are actually a great band and excellent live. Yeah, they are very commercial but they are genuinely brilliant in my opinion.

KoL on the other hand, I love their old stuff but these days I'm not a fan. Crap at Reading last year.

I'm going to both V and Reading this year, and I'm very happy with both lineups! I've got a broad music taste.. The only kind of music I won't listen to is RnB type stuff and cheesey pop music..

Bring on the summer :P

I love KOL..have done for years...AND i love Kasabian..seen them both a few times,and loved it......and i don't watch hollyoaks. :P I have no problem admiting that I like them.

Very fashionable these days...esp since SOF to dislike them.

I was actually quite tempted to go to V, Kasabian are good live and I must have caught KOL on a bad day at Leeds because otherwise they're great onstage. Plus Madness who were brilliant at Glasto last year.

But yeah, this line-up has a very "return to roots" feel about it, the sort of line-up you'd have expected to see in the late 90s/early 00s, just how a Reading and Leeds line-up should be. There's the usual Indie w*nk but unlike the past few years they're not taking up high slots, instead having established acts like Weezer, QOTSA, Cypress Hill and Lostprophets in their place instead.

I played "Use Somebody" with my band and a group of girls got up and started dancing. They went and sat down again after we had finished as they didn't know Ocean Colour Scene "Day we caught the train". Then as we announced the second KOL song of our set ("The Bucket") they returned to the dancefloor only to turn their noses up as "this isnt KOL is it?"..."I don't know, I don't think so, well i dont think its on the album"..."Do you know it?"..."I've never heard it, this isnt KOL its shit"

I just stood there with a huge grin on my face :lol::lol:

Similar thing in work this morning. Couple of girls walked into the office & told me they had Leeds tickets. I replied 'I'm so happy with the line-up, best in ages & a huge improvement on last year'. Neither of them had seen the line-up. After I'd shown them the yellow poster online their expressions were blank. They then proceeded to tell everyone else excitably 'Guess what? We've got Leeds tickets! Sooo excited'..............................Excited about what you daft bint? You don't even know any of the bands who are playing.

Headliners look pretty poor to me. Though some good acts in the line up, Two Door Cinema Club, The Cribs, Modest Mouse, Pendulum, We are Scientists.

I think so far V's lineup is slighty better. You also have the added advantage @ V that your tent or the loos won't be in flames on the last night.
