JBarbour
Its prob one of the strongest overall line ups and all headliners uk exclusives, don't understand why it hasn't sold out yet. I know a lot of people wanted to see the line up before buying tickets, they didnt want to be someone who went for the sake of going Is around £200 just getting too expensive? Will this be a worry for FR? I know it will sell out but its not the record breaking time they are use to

kev1664
I love the line-up personally, but the obvious problems I can see this year are; 1. The amount of indie type band that they have put on over the last 5-10 years has been increasing more and more as the popularity of indie sold. Moving away from a more indie orientated lineup this year has cost them a lot of the indie crowd(and with that the casual music crowd). Because they cannot justify buying a weekend ticket when there is only really 1 day that suits there tastes. Up untill this year this was the core market. 2. The festival has been getting more and more expensive for a while now. I think the limit has been reached with regards to what people are willing to pay. I'm thinking the price will have to fall, next year in order to keep people buying. Its getting to the stage where its becoming as expensive as going abroard on a holiday. 3. With the amount of indie over the past few years increasing it has slowly pushed all the heavier fans(previous core market) away as it was getting to commercial and poppy for them. This year especially with bands like AC/DC Rage and Aerosmith at download, a lot of these types of fans would have bought download tickets and sacked off reading and leeds because of the sheer volume of indie & commercial music last year was to be expected again from them. 4. Making the line-up as it is has cost a lot of the casual commercial music fans buying (market that are willing to buy just because its 'cool' to go), as they were once again expecting a line-up filled with the likes of KOL, AM, Kasabian(not that those three are bad bands just there more easily liked as it mainstream when put up against bands like Blink, AF, GnR and even the libertines), florence and the machine, la roux the list goes on again, Idunno why because they only played last year and it was never gonna happen. This is all to apparent with people posting negative comments on Facebook, the NME comments left on the articles, and even that shitty leeds festival online site (which must be full of some of the dumbest people ever) where every second person was asking for all of the main bands who were playing last year. 5. Its always last to be announced, this year it was probably a bad move. I know Melvin said it would be returning to its roots, but people did not actually understand what this meant. If they were to give clues or ideas as to who would be playing earlier then a lot of people from the old core market may have bought instead of going to download or sonisphere.Announcing earlier would have gave clear indications of which direction they were headed and could had stopped at least 2 of the 4 points above happening. Chihiro Cheeks
I'd hardly call it a week line up. It's just gone back to how it used to be. Plus it's only become cool to go to festivals the last 5 years. Before that it never used to sell out right up til the time even when it was only 80 quid for the weekend.
