The Libertines Setlist?

Guest Redd114

Anyone got any predictions/ideas of the sort of Setlist they'll play? Or what your ideal Setlist would be etc.

We can even extend it out to other bands if enough people post I guess.

Personally I'd guess it would be similar to that of their last appearance, however Pete did talk about new material?

So what does everyone think...

I think they'll open with Don't Look Back Into The Sun and end with Can't Stand Me Now, makes sense for them to open and close with the 2 most well known songs. Would love to hear What Became Of the Likely Lads and What A Waster, but presumably they'll have about an hours set, so I'd guess they'll play most of their songs anyway.

I might get shot down for this, but i dont really care what they play or even turn up, would rather they didn't, but hey ho thats life, plus i do not think they are even that good of a band.

I will be elsewhere watching a band that wants to play music rather than get a huge one off lump sum to get back together. £300k a head to be rumoured.

Also i ask how are they bigger than they played before when they are 3rd on the list???? Just cause Pete Doherty is now in the press for doing every drug under the sun on a weekly basis doesnt make them big. Its amazing what happens when you disappear for ages.

Another gripe, people saying they are one of the most influencial bands of the 00's, please name some bands they have influenced that isnt Babyshambles or any other band Carl Barrat has been involved in, as i cant see it.

I am more than expecting people to go mental now, but that is my view.

hoping for them to open with Can't Stand Me Now.

to be honest they don't really have a bad song, so we should all be in for one hell of a show.

Babyshambles are playing in Darlington on Friday, I'll try and pluck up the courage to ask about new material perhaps.

Or maybe I'll just bottle it.

Thats more likely :P

Also to the guy with the post bashing The Libertines, when people starting raving about Up The Bracket when it came out, and it started getting rave reviews, it was purely down to the music, that was before all the tabloid reports about drugs. Also, when they played 3rd down it was after Pete had left and it was the libs just with Carl. So the demand to see them at Leeds/Reading in their original form is huge, so second from the mainstage is hardly unwarranted, surely you recognize that they're bigger than Paramore, who are also second on the mainstage, bigger than Bloc Party, Kaiser Chiefs and many other bands who have played the same slot on the mainstage!

Again about the drugs, yeah its all over the papers alot, imagine if all the great bands of the past were around nowadays. With todays tabloid culture, if say, The Rolling Stones were around think how much they'd be in the press for drugs, there'd be a lot of people who didn't even listen to their incredible music and instead just said, 'crap band fronted by a druggie'. Listen to the music and dont think about anything else.

Anyway, gonna be an epic set whatever they play :P

I reckon that'd last just over an hour? Being Special Guests they'll hopefully get enough time for that. I have a show from 2004 of them playing 16 songs which lasted an hour, but one of those was Cyclops which is pretty long. It's pretty similar setlist to mine I just made a few changes and upped it to 19 songs. I'd find it hard to take any of those out.

I don't know about ultimate favourite setlist - it'd be silly to contemplate it as it would have Bucket Shop and You're My Waterloo in for a start, and that ain't gonna happen.

But they will definitely play ( 9 ):

Don't Look Back into the Sun

What a Waster

Can't Stand Me Now

Time for Heroes

I Get Along

The Good Old Days

Music When the Lights Go Out

What Became of the Likely Lads

What Katie Did

Probably play ( 7 ):

Tell the King

Up the Bracket

The Delaney

Boys in the Band

Horrorshow

Last Post on the Bugle

The Man Who Would Be King

Possibly:

Pretty much everything else, including Babyshambles songs that were written in Libertine times, like Albion and Back from the Dead.
