the best camp to camp on?

(at leeds)

brown is family camping so it's really quiet, takes ages to walk to but if you want a decent night's sleep that's yer best bet.

green is pretty quiet too, but not as quiet as brown.

orange is pretty big and quite loud, it's where most of the fires seemed to be on sunday night last year. it's close to the picadilly party too, so if you camp near that you're not gonna be sleeping very much haha.

red and blue are next to each other, blue has a big hill which is where we camped last year, it was pretty much perfect, good atmosphere and not too loud cos it's pretty out the way. red seems to be pretty similar.

white is near most of the non-arena stuff, like the supermarket and the cider place. it's pretty loud apparently and i think i heard it got flooded once so if you like to be dry, probs best not to camp there.

yellow is the most popular, and will be full by thursday morning. everyone calls it the 'party campsite' but it just seemed to be full of chavs when we went. it's closest to the arena though..

but they've all got good atmosphere and it'll be good wherever you camp, so just camp wherever there's space.

I camped with a few mates and a load of couples in brown in 08 as it was the last place we could all get together. Good if you like a quiet atmosphere where you can have a few beers then get a decent kip, its a fair trek to the arena though and if its muddy the walk can be depressing towards the end of the festival!

Last year I was in green near the orange boundary/top corner, nice camp as its again pretty quiet, plus the walk to orange wasn't far if we wanted to goto the fair/picadilly park. I'd recommend green if you like to party etc. But not all the time as its close enough to do everything without impacting on kip.

This year I think I might do blue due to it being closer to the arena and we've got early entry. To be fair in my opinion chilling round camp with your mates at night with a beer is great, and in honesty where you camps not the end of the world.

Aye, as said above, all the camps would be great with a load of mates. Only difference is brown really is quiet (for a festival) and that they all have varying lengths of walk to the arena.

Orange is my choice every year simply because we parked near there in 05 and ended up heading for it every year since. Its really lively and cool but you could have a good time anywhere.

last year we camped in blue, across from the oxfam tent and we really liked it there. heading straight for the same area this year.

really close to all the entertainment, shops, toilets etc and there was fire tower right next to us so we didn't get any trouble there.

at leeds last year we were on a hill between red and blue. loved it! really close to everything, and so good for just sitting around people watching.

however, if you plan to get so drunk that you'll end up rolling down the hill destroying everyone elses tents in your path, i wouldn't recommend it haha. we ended up having to give away some of our tents to the victims of my very rat arsed friends roly poly'ing adventure.

think i'd like to give orange a whirl this year though!

i liked where we were last year in orange (leeds) because it was easy to find, it was orange c, so between the path and the woods; not in the middle of the whole campsite and not miles away from the shops or campsite dj or picadilly party (unlike say, the back/back corner of red). Yet it was still out of the way of the paths of people; in blue you either had to be camped in the middle of the area or by a path which was used by loads of people

white was pretty good at leeds last year, because we got there fairly late due to going on the coach package, it was the only place we managed to find that was somewhat close to the arena and the village. Pretty quiet too considering how near it was to stuff. If the weather's somewhat good like last year I wouldn't mind camping there again. I'd have the fear a bit if it rains too much though.

Is there a particular campsite where oxfam stewards camp? It says that stewards sleep in the same camp, so i wondered whether it would be brown?

I camped in brown last year; it was good for a beginner going with a few friends who likes to chill and then get as good a nights kip as you can on camping on booze haha! I have no idea how people camp next to the village - crazy peoples!!
