can i just say after 8y ears of v, and a shite v line up announcement, we fancied a change. not blown away with line up compared to lest year but still looking forward to a different festival experience.

can i be really thick and ask what this lock up thingy is all about??

looking forward to muse, beady eye, friendly fires, the strokes and white lies but im gonna be hitting the dance tent if all else fails

The lock-up stage is made up by and compered by Mike Davies of Radio 1's Lock-Up Punk Rock Show. It's a stage for punk rock basically. On Sunday it turns into the dance tent.

After having a few days to think about the line up, I think my main problem is that bands seem overpromoted. I started the thread about bands who were lower than expected and people struggle to come up with many names. Where as you look at bands higher than expected and many of us are approaching double figures. Try looking at the main stage line up and pushing everyone down a slot, I think for the vast majority there would be little surprise if they had been given this slot instead. The only exceptions that came to mind are strokes, pulp, madness, elbow and muse. There are bands on the line up who have seemingly moved up despite not gaining popularity. I just dont think we are getting value for money.

I have only just realised how good the NME stage on the Muse day. I could easily stay in there from Cage the Elephant until the end of the night and I don't even think I'd be bothered about missing muse.

Absolutely shocking.

A complete waste of a prime slot. I caught three of their songs on the telly earlier, I've never seen a band so desperate to sound so epic.

the hole friday at reading on the main stage is just a write off for me. i will be in the n.m.e all day up untill beady eye come on, then i will go see the horrors.

the main band that i think are rediculously placed... they are the only top 5 band on each day i will refuse to watch... they really are terrible but yeah kudos to them for getting the slot!

I would say jimmy eat world are just as ridiculously placed. At least with 30stm there is no baseline to consider where they played last time and whether they should move up or down the bill. I am a casual jew fan but they have climbed up the line up despite doing nothing to suggest they should.

i think in mr benns interview he gave a few days ago. he said it would be a few weeks for more confirmations.

from the looks of things it seems were missing:

1 act on each day on main

maybe 2 acts on each day on n.m.e (but with the special guest on mid n.m.e i cant work it out)

5 or 6 on each day on the F.R

lots more very small acts.

does this seem right?

No

1 band is missing on mainstage for MCR as the other 2 days the headliners get longer sets.

The NME stage is missing 5/6 acts.

FR stage has around 15ish acts not 7.

And you are missing Lock Up & Dance stages, Alternative & BBC stage.

Depends on how you want to look at it but last time they were playing two sets and this time just the one so maybe in FR's mind a 5th & Lock Up headliner slots is equal to a 4th slot?

I cant remember if proevious bands who have done a double slot have moved up the line up next time they played. I hope they get rid of the lock up/main stage double booking this year, I think its lazy booking.
