Looking at it IMO this years line up is alot better than 2009. Obviously it's just down to opinion but I think 2009 was rotten, the night Arctic Monkeys played i didn't want to see any headliners, that's never happened to me in 11 years of going to Leeds.

this line up does need mcr to pull out and a bigger headliner step in,foo fighters or iron maiden would do nicely, even janes addiction being moved to main stage or nme headliner on mcr/beady eye day would improve things.

Beady eye and MCR for me just arent mega popular bands that are definite and capable big festival headliners. The booker is gambling that by the time its august both bands will be a lot more popular and both thier new albums will be massive.

Hopefully the lock up and dance stage are really good quality.

There are a few more bands to be added to the mainstage,im sure there is one or two for each day of the mainstage.

a fair few will be added to nme aswell.

Im hoping for these to be added: mars votla, wolfmother, the darkness(special guest) and the subways.

after download and sonisphere have happened im sure a few suprises will pop up.

It would make sense to me for Jane's Addiction to be on the MCR day but it's too late for any movement now. The only way MCR will not headline is if they pull out for any reason.

There's one more band to add to the main stage on the MCR day and four more for each day in the tent but I doubt any of them will be spectacular bands, those tent headliners are there to stay.

  • 3 weeks later...

Generally, the line-up isn't too bad.

My initial reaction was that the line up was highly dissapointing but after looking through the whole thing I feel a lot better about it.

I think if you were to take MCR and 30STM off the bill of even just move them down (to thier rightful places IMO) the line-up would seem a lot more plausable.

I also think after the rest of the acts are added it will seem a lot better as more bands = more fitting to peoples music tastes.

Overall not a bad line up and I can see it being a great festival regardless.

:) x

Will any of the headliners get the 2 hour slot? If The Strokes and Pulp are co-headlining this might mean that both bands get an hour and a half at both sites, and if The Cribs are playing they're most likely to be 4th down on the Muse day which will mean that day has 10 bands playing, hence not enough time for a 2 hour Muse slot.

When was the last time all of the headliners got an hour and a half? Was it 2004?

I think everyone assumed that Muse would get the two-hour slot but that was when we all thought The Strokes were the lone headliners on their day, if there are four bands getting headline-length slots it may well mean nobody gets a two-hour slot.

I have no idea how we find out.

yup,it would make much more sense for janes addiction to play on the MCR day, especially if the rumours that there will be no lock up on the friday are true.

as it stands, any rock fan over 18 who is unlikely to want to see MCR will have to choose between beady eye or the dance tent! this is then compounded by the fact that on the saturday they would have a clash between strokes, janes addiction and the lock up headliners. no one to see headlining on fri,3 clashing on sat!!!!! not very well thought out but,as you said, they wont change janes addiction to a friday now so the only way to put it right is for a rock band to play on the festival republic stage on the friday.(kyuss anyone??? ha ha,wishfull thinking but it would make sense)

Why do you think people that like rock music get priority over people who want to see some dance instead of the rock that is already on Friday?

I think it makes sense having Dance on the Friday as it allows people not into the heavier music at the festival have something else to watch. I have no sympathy for your predicament. If you don't like the music do something else or do one.

????????????????????????????????

how does me saying that i think it would be better if janes addiction and beady eye were swapped around as the dance tent is on friday mean that i think rock fans should get priority over people who like dance????

have you read my post properly?

surely if the dance tent (which has since been confirmed as friday) is on then it doesnt affect you which out of beady eye or janes addiction is playing on the NME stage???
