Apologies if its been asked already.

We're going to Reading on the Saturday only and are coming from London. Can anyone suggest the best way to get there and back on the same day? Bus or Train?

I'd prefer the train but not if its a pain to get from the station to the festival site

Any advice would be great, cheers

Its not a long walk to the station, probably more than 5 minutes but certainly not anything worth worrying about, and there are direct trains to London until pretty late at night. You'll be travelling off peak as well so the tickets are pretty cheap. Its all quite straightforward :P

there is a direct train to and from paddington to reading that takes 25mins or so.

It goes all night, but does get longer (1 hour journey) from around 00:30 iirc, and more infrequent too.

Check the timetable on nationalrail.co.uk for exact details.

from reading station, you are then looking at a good 10-15min walk to the festival site with all your stuff, and with the crowds. 5mins with no stuff/no crowds.

Yeah definitely, I was talking about the walk from the station to the site entrance, so yeah add on another 30mins or so from wherever you are camped to the site entrance, depending on how far away you are.
