I would think, based on past team selections it will be Upson and whichever of the two crocks are fittest on the day.

How would you think its best to use King, if indeed Terry is ruled out of the whole competition.

Id say play him against USA (our hardest griup game by some way). Then rest him for the Algeria and Slovenia games, as they SHOULD be pretty simple games.

Then, supposing we go all the way, i'd probably:

Pick him for the last 16? (depending on who we get)

Rest for Quarter Final

Then play him in the Semi Final and Final (if he can)

Hes obviously in no fit state to play them all, and this would be resting him in 3 games, and playing him in 4.

Hmmm ... :P

this alone tells me he's not even worth wasting a place over. if he was a world class player, fair enough but to have someone who you'd be happy to rest in the quarter final?

you say this as if it's some sort of achievement.

the guy is not world class. he plays for tottenham hotspur. he is good. very good at a push. cannavaro was world class. beckenbaur was world class. maldini was world class. moore was world class. ledley king is a crock who plays for spurs.

nah i'm in the mood to discuss. i think if a week ago england did have any ambitions of winning the world cup, then they might as well end them now. you've said terry is replacable, i think he would have been a huge player. now you have two players who lack serious match practice at the centre of defence. and the back ups are what, a west ham player and remind me who? you could put gary caldwell on the plane and he wouldn't look out of place.

I guess we shall see for sure soon.

As far as i can see its not been confirmed that he has broke his metatarsal.

Could be a fuss about nothing.

That being said i dont think it damages Englands hopes for the World Cup if he is out. He has hardly been in amazing form this season

Blimey.

Terry would be a first choice for me if he was fit. It looks like he won't be. However, as good as he is and as important as he may be, he IS replaceable. The likes of Rooney and Cole aren't. They're miles better than anyone else in their position. Terry isn't that much better than the other centre halves vying for a place.

So you're saying that whereas last week we might have had a chance of winning the thing, now we don't have any chance because John Terry might not make it?! :P

We're weaker without him - I can't deny that. But he's not irreplaceable. It's a blow, but not a devastating blow.

Honestly mate - you need to read some of the stuff you post about England. You had a go at Neil about his blind hatred of Man Utd but you could be his apprentice. It's borderline obsessive. :P

and please not bring man utd into a thread where they don't belong. and it's not obsession. if it was, i wouldn't be sacrificing missing the start of coheed and cambria to see three lions :P

since when has England had a real chance?

They won't get past the quarters at very best.

I won't be surprised if they don't get out of the groups. They're far from great.
