After all, one of FIFA's regulations is "no govt interference", yet France has sent their Sports Minister to SA to have a word with the team.

Any other team but France, it'd be a ban. Given FIFA's love for France, they'll probably award them some extra points to ensure they're in the next round.

England team news is that Heskey is to be dropped for Defoe and Lennon might (Fabio is undecided) be dropped for Wright Phiilips and Upson to replace Carragher/King. I'd like to see Dawson given a go as he's the only defender with some real pace.

the tactics are defo a part of the problem. The problem is that there's very little he can do about it because of the players he's taken.

If Gerrard is played more centrally and J.Cole played on the left instead, it doesn't get rid of any of the problems. Cole drifts inside no less than Gerrard, but gets much further forwards - meaning that Rooney ends up away from the goal trying to find some space without any chance of scoring.

The best hope would be Milner on the left and Cole on the right, cos at least Milner realises that he's meant to be on the wing. But after Milner's poor performance in the first game I'm not sure he'll get another kick (which would be a damned shame, as he's been the player to bring a spark to England in the last year).

So we'll prolly get SWP. And Carrick. And a plan ticket home.

While the players might not be up to much within the team as a whole, it's Pat that's picked those players knowing they're not (for England, at least) team players, and he's limited what he's able to do tactically because of it.

I think he could solve this with those changes. Put Lampard on the right (i've seen him play there for chelsea and he can make it work), Milner on the left with Gerrard and Barry in the middle. Then two strikers.

I can't see us winning tomorrow without a big change in the formation, the team needs to have it's workings fundamentally changed. I, like most, bought into Capello and his promises to do so. Neils right, Sven Mk.II.

I think terry has shot himself in the foot if he wants cole in the team. Capello is stubborn and will not want to be seen as giving in to terry. The thing about capello is ( and I dont think they will) if england draw or lose tomorrow he goes back to italy with a big fat pay check anyway.

Lennon is a better player than SWP. SWP just runs into people. And in the last match the whole team was awful.

Oh, I agree that overall Lennon is a better player than SWP.

Lennon had a great season - but only up until he got injured. He's been a very long way from the same form since he came back from injury.

I agree that the whole team was awful in the last match, and that Lennon wasn't the worst (those honours go to Cashley, Lumpard, & Rooney). But even so, those other players do manage to put in much better in most other games, while Lennon has been more flaky than Walcott's been in their respective England games. With him very much out of form he's a player to sit out the rest of the games, apart from maybe a ten minute cameo at the end where his pace might do England a favour against a tired opposition.
