Im glad italy lost, I had a feeling they would stink out the group and then fluke a 2nd round win against the dutch. I think every neutral would look forward to a brazil v holland match even if neither are as attacking as they have been in the past. Italy were experienced in 2006 but now they are just old. I think England could end up in the same position in 2014 so must take advantage now.

I know many of said on here that they think england have better individuals than germany. Howevr mark brights comment that not a single germany player would make the england team is the most ridiculous I have heard in the tournament. I would love to know how many bundesliga matches he has seen to make that assessment! Also be brought up that silly klose isnt on form statement. I repeat bbc and ITV bayern munich are not playing at the world cup!

Hehe, come on pink_triangle cheer up. All your posts today have been negative about england. Let's have a bit of fath (call it blind faith if you will) :D

Back to the italy game. My friend is chuffed to bits right now. He is slovakian born but grew up in south africa. He was at the game today, last time I spoke to him a couple of hours ago he was very merry chappy. I'm pleased for him. Just wish I was out there.

Japan looked very good tonight

neuer or james

lahm, metersacker, terry, cole

schweinsteiger, ozil,barry, gerrard

rooney, klose

Thats 5 of each and im undecided about the keeper as I dont know enough about the german keeper. Included metersacker and Barry more because I couldnt really think of anyone else that great. Certianly not the 11-0 split that bright has though.

Good article and unlike most things you would expect from a scottish newspaper not anti english drivel. I have absolutely loved the world cup but the punditry is so bad I now only watch the actual football. Poorly prepared, lack of tactical knowledge and they actually do give the impression that they are incovenienced to be paid to go to south africa and be forced to discuss the likes of slovenia, slovakia, honduras, algeria etc

Very quiet on here, I must be the only one not in glasto! Brazil v portugal was disappointing but always was going to be with both sides only needing a draw and not knowing if there was any advantage to topping the group or not. Glad to see spain and chile through and the dull swiss home. Amazing after wc 2006 with an all europe semi final that theres only 6 european sides and they are all drawn against each other.

Predictions for last 16

Holland v slovakia, Dutch win withoug breaking much sweat

Brazil v Chile, easy brazil win

germany v england, too close to call, I think if they played each other 10 times both would win 5, will say germany just to be disfferent

argentina v mexic, narrow argentina win, a lot harder than people will expect

uruguay v south korea, uruguay by a couple of goals

usa v ghana, 50/50 could be ghana on penalties

japan v paraguay, paraguay narrow win

spain v portugal, think/hope spanish narrow win, but portugals defence wll cause spain big problems.
