Ahhhh, you see, this where your own argument falls down, but not mine. :)

The law in regard to crimes DOES differentiate between crimes, and award different punishments on the basis of those crimes.

Yet a tickle on the chin in the box or a handball on the line to stop a goal has the same punishment.

So, if the punishment for a goaline handball is fair in your view (and you say it is), then you can't possibly complain that a leg-breaker has been treated leniently. ;)

I've said the resultant punishment wasn't fair for the crime. Given that it was a goal if he'd not have cheated, you'd have to be brain dead to disagree.

there's no way of 'turning back time' so why can't people just accept that a) uruguay are in the semi finals and B) that gyan missed the chance to put ghana there.

I accept all of this.

And that's why I posted to say I'll be pleased to see Uruguay knocked out tonight, because they don't deserve to be semi finalists.

There's proper and armchair, which are you?

I'm proper. I care for the game more than I care about my team winning. I'm smart enough to know that no team can win if there's no game.

You missed out the arseholes. Still, self-recognition is sometimes hard.

Hey, I heard Fergie admitted he was wrong, and he's said that Germans don't cheat after all.:lol::lol:

He goes to an Aldershot game once in a blue moon and spends the rest of his football experience watching Arsenal in the pub with the other die hards.

Interestingly, if all that mattered to me about the game is my team winning, why would I have been to so many Newcastle games as a neutral?

I go to games hundreds of miles away, not games on my doorstep just cos I can get over-excited at seeing someone who was a vaguely famous player in Scotland 10 years ago.

You mean like when I went to Peterborough last season? Or Sheffield? Or Preston? Or Sc**thorpe? Or Barnsley? Are these the sort of distances you're talking about?

Yep, they're about the sorts of distances I'm talking about.

So what makes you able to say you're a proper fan, and that others who do no less than you aren't?

What makes you able to do that is this: you're a self-important arsehole. :)

why would you brag about going to games hundreds of miles away and not going to games on your doorstep. genuinely confused

I go to the games that I fancy going to. I'm not in the position to be able to go to all the games I might want to go to.

I do go to games on my doorstep if there's games I fancy nearby, and they can be fitted in. However, the number of those I can choose from is very small.

Was I bragging? Nope. I was responding to the arsehole who likes to think that him and his partisan inconsistent bollocks makes him the world's only true fan.

Yet you're doing the same with me.

And you're proving yourself as that by your inconsistent statements. Any foul play isn't cheating or doesn't bother you ... unless it's against your team, then you're still banging on about it sometimes years later.

Either something is always wrong, or it's never wrong. Why not try it some time? ;)

^ this

and whose to say a black hole wouldn't have appeared at that precise moment to swallow the ball, i'm sure that's possible to some crazed scientist out there :) there's no proof (or will they're ever be) that some insane scenario occured where the goal wouldn't have hit the back of the net or that it would have gone in anyways.

You do no less than consistently going to home and away matches? How many do you go to a season?

Guessing that you're talking English, and filling it in to be English, the answer varies. Last season was 4 aways (three of which were mid-weeks) and 5 homes I think. It would have been more, but the kids wouldn't have it.

I'd suspect that you support whoever to the same degree that I support Hartlepool, but then again I don't have a passing interest in Hartlepool that I feel allows me to look down on Man United fans for not supporting their local team while being a not-so-closet Arsenal fan.

Where's the local Utd fan here then, that I don't look down on?:lol::P

It's not Utd I hate, it's the constant pathetic bollocks they spout. Just reference ralph today - cheating's fine, but it's outrageous that Utd were cheated out of the title.

And ralph only has a mild case of Utditus compared to most of them.

Personally, my biggest concern is with the standard of officiating in this country and I now have the attitude that sometimes you get them and sometimes you don't (this is more the case at Championship level than at Premiership).

The standard of reffing is better than it's ever been. Why has that passed you by, and why do you think it's worse?
