Yep. He played enough alongside Terry and Ferdinand in qualifying to know what to expect from them. Didn't put a foot wrong* (slipping on the Wembley pitch doesn't count) for England, so doesn't deserve to be dropped any more than Heskey does for his club form.

*Despite what the ITV commentators would have you belive, they were overly critical, I imagine that's why youd take him out - I know you hang on Tyldesley's every word :P

Ah well Ryan Shawcross did not get there but his time will come.. Personally I dont rate Zamora or Bent. Bent for me is a very good league player but not an international player.. Zamora I just dont rate.. if gone for another forward I would have Taken Carlton Cole if he was fit..

Parker deserves it as well as Huddlestone..

7 I would Drop..

Bent

Warnock

Upson

Carrick

SWP

Lennon

Theo Walcott

Pretty good selection overall - would take Zamora over Heskey but could be my Fulham bias. I think Zamora is better then Heskey (he does all the physical work but also scores a few goals) but Heskey's been the England man throughout the whole qualification. Would be too ballsy and risky to bring Zamora along.

If Heskey is injured though I'm not convinced we have a striker to get the best out of Rooney, which is clearly the key to our side having any success. Crouch and Rooney could work though *shrug*.

I think he'll drop:

Carrager

Dawson

Huddleson

Jonhson

Lennon

Warnock

Parker

Whats the starting line-up then?

Traditional 4-4-2 if you please.

Hart

G Johnson - Terry - King - A Cole

Lennon - Gerrard - Lampard - Milner

Heskey - Rooney

I don't think fitness is the problem as he's 100% recovered but he's lacking match sharpness from not playing for almost 2 years.

he's also lacking bottle in a big way from what Fergie's said - so I think it's unlikely he'll ever be close to being the player he was, as it sounds like he's too scared of further injury.

GAH!

Just realised he's not selected at all, had no idea why I thought he was there, considering I posted the squad.

The only alternative to Gerrard is Parker then. I'd play parker against the better sides, I don't think you can have Gerrard and Lampard both in the centre against the likes of Spain/ Brazil etc
