Its funny ITV said that a few times. I said to my mate, knowing itv if england had the same scored they would be annointing them world champions. As for germany I think it was ridiculous those counting them out. I heard a lot of the media say that they would struggle becasue klose and podolski werent scoring for bayern. My answer to that, who cares if they score for bayern, they are an awesome partnership at international level.

Overall, I haven't been too impressed with the quality on show, WAY too many loose passes, poor control etc. Maybe it's rustiness and nerves of that first game that many sides are struggling with? Hopefully it'll improve and the 2nd set of games will be better.

The Germans are easily the best side so far - their ball retention and movement was excellent, even though the Australian defence allowed them way too much room. Still MUCh too early to tell what will happen and how things will pan out, but Germany are the only side that has anything to really worry about.

but for a keeping error we would have won at a canter, playing decent opposition, without actually playing more than average. rooney will get better. lampard cannot be as annonymous again.

the only concern is at CB. Which means barry will have to play, which he's going to and provide a bit of cover.

overall. 5.5 out of 10 with plenty more to come

Barry MUST play. We should still beat Algeria without him, but if we are to progress, he needs game time.

My main concern is left midfield - it was a major weak link. Milner looked several miles behind the pace, SWP even worse. What was wrong with Joe Cole? Just not picked or suffering with illness?

I couldn't quite believe some of the clueless idiots who were blaming Capello for Green's howler, saying he shouldn't have waited so long to tell him he was playing. Fine - criticise him for his choice of left midfield, but not that. Every single one of those 23 should be ready to play a part at all times. What if James was number 1 and got crocked after 2 minutes?!

the keeper thing has nothing to do with Capello (except selecting him in the 1st place). Green simply got shown for what he is, an average keeper. Capello may regret not giving Hart more pitch time, as he was easily the best english keeper last year and must start. you only gain experience through playing.

Well not exactly an electric start to this world cup. Germany looked very good, and I was fairly impressed with Argentina and South Korea. Looking forward to seeing Holland later.

England were disappointing but not a terrible performance. Pace at centreback is definitely a concern now, not quite sure what the solution is.

He sounds permanently stoned, and talks in tired cliches. He's bloody awful. Quite impressed with Adebayor though.
