Problem with any of our keepers really is that all played for lower half teams where they were constantly tested. They're unproven at high level, where their club might be more dominant.

The great keepers are those that won't see the ball for 30 minutes but then have the concentration and readiness when they do. More emphasis on their mental qualities as opposed to agility.

I like Hart but he's a complete unknown quantity at this level. Could be inspired putting him in or he could crumble under pressure and it be a disaster.

As for the game, thought we were ok, and had a few positives. Agree a left footer might've been handy, but a right footed on the left can work well if Ashley Cole advances on the overlap; reverse ball on etc. Cole was a bit concerned with Donovan, so didn't get forward massively. We created some decent openings though and a touch more quality (or even luck) in the final third and it could've been a convincing win.

Just got to make sure we do a professional job on Friday and take nothing for granted.

If you'd have seen matey* in the pub last night with his Norwich scarf on, I'm certain you'd be agreeing with me saying pathetic. It was FAR more hatred than I've ever seen from any badge-wearing proud-to-be ABU.

(* he mentioned he's just moved to the area - if he's going to be a regular he's going to be putting me off my beer and football. He's moved from somewhere down south ... and the pub wet itself when he explained his hatred of shitty as "it's because they're my local rivals" <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/laugh.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="laugh.gif" /> <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/laugh.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="laugh.gif" /> <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/laugh.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="laugh.gif" />)

this dickhead got kicked out of the pub in the middle of the match on Saturday night.:lol:

That pub is hardly a quiet pub, and Saturday night was by far the rowdyist I've ever seen it. But dickhead was kicking anything nearby and shouting "c**t" at every England f**k-up (so there was a LOT of shouting ) .... after being told to calm down by the landlord cos there were kids in the pub, he was seen putting on a knuckle-duster and waiting for the landlord to come around the corner so that he could knobble him.

Luckily, other regulars saw him do that, so the Landlord went around the other way and grabbed him from behind. Bye-bye one of the biggest football w*nkers I've ever seen.

(note: I'm having a go at him being a w*nker, and for nothing else. Take note, the blinkers brigade ;)).

I didn't find it funny at all. And regardless of whether it had been Green, Hart, James or A N Other, I still wouldn't have found it funny.

Strange that.

Well, I found it very funny. And even more funny because it was just so England.

I'd have found it funny whichever goalie it had been. But I found it even more funny specifically because of your post last week.

:)

I assume you found your post ridiculing my belief that Capello would start with Green "even more funny" too...

yep. Cos it only happened cos James is crocked.

But if Green doesn't start on Friday, I reckon it's a very safe bet that he'll never play for England again. And on that basis, I hope he starts on Friday.

But my local was BRILLIANT on Saturday - an amazing, friendly atmosphere, kids, adults, people dressed up, facepaint, flags, shirts - the whole lot. It was ace. And - importantly - VERY friendly. Hugging random strangers when we scored etc.

ditto.

But no-one found Green's error 'funny'.

I guess there's less blinkers round here then. :)

If it had been any other team you'd have been pissing yourself. It was no less funny because it was England.

Piffle.

yeah, it's all lies that all the defenders have said "not Green".

However, that aside, what exactly did you find funny in my post?

I really don't see why stating all three keepers in the squad aren't particularly good, is funny?

Perhaps you have a very strange sense of humour - certainly is an idea enforced by you finding the goal amusing. Unless you aren't an England supporter - then it would have been funny...

What I found funny were your claims of Green being England's number one when he's not. It's Pat that makes that choice, not you. The clue is on the jerseys. :)

And I also find the goal funny, because it was. It's hilarious that someone who thinks he's that good and who has others thinking he's that good couldn't make a save that my mum (and probably yours) could have.

Unlike the likes of you, I'm a supporter who hasn't had a sense of humour or sense of perspective bypass. :)

That makes me no less of a supporter than you. :)

It does make me far more balanced with my opinions than you. :)
