Correct. But there is a slight difference with most of the English people watching England in an English pub in England.

They wanted England to win.

Not everyone is as hard-hearted as you, mate.... ;)

I wanted England to win no less than you did. :)

What I didn't do was think we only had to turn up to get the result.

They played as shit as I'd said they would, and no less shit than they'd performed in those friendlies that meant "nothing". Yet they've already shown just how much they meant.

But of course, England will walk it on Friday. They won't walk onto the pitch as nervous as f**k and unable to play well because of it, oh no.

Its a funny sort of supporter that seems happy to see England not win.

I'd much rather that they had.

But unlike you, I knew that the game wasn't the bye that you and others had laughingly believed it to be.

And now, because you're feeling foolish at your predictions of England's greatness, and your ridiculing of the comments I'd made which have proven to be accurate, your last resort is to attack the messenger instead of owning up to your own failings with your predictions.

That's much more funny than the goal was.:lol:

Lets see my predictions that show I thought it was a bye then?

You still seem happy that England didn't win, and I'd suggest that finding a goal like that against your own team funny further suggests that

How many times do I have to restate that I'd rather England had won before it penetrates your thick head?

I always knew that a win was far from guaranteed, because they're simply not as good as you and others think they are.

And so it proved.

And so Green proved.

As a boro fan, do you go to every game expecting them to win and play perfectly? Or are you realistic enough to know that there's a good chance they won't win, and that players are likely to make cock-ups, some of which might be so bad as to be laughable?

There's fans, and there's stupid fans. Which one are you? (no answer required) :)

Yes, and I'm usually quite disappointed to not win games in which we should.

There's also cup finalists, part-timers and the armchair brigade. Ask real fans what their opinions of these are.

More to the point, who in YHO gets to be a "real fan"?:lol::lol:

A fan is a fan is a fan. There are no "real fans", there are just fans. And some fans don't live in cloud cuckoo land. :)

I quite agree. I say that as someone who believed prior to the WC that England wouldn't get past the QFs.

However, there are also some fans that know sweet FA about the sport they profess to be a fan of...

And would they be the ones that have been able to see England's frailties, or those that can't? :):lol:

I don't fancy seeing Carragher again - he was woeful. Then again, the alternatives are 'an in good form but shit and no experience' centre half, or a in awful form but ok and experienced' centre half.

That's the trouble you have when your first eleven with everyone fit is ok, but the rest of the squad aren't really up to it.

Whilst what you are saying might be 'rational', it's not what I would call normal behaviour for someone who wanted England to win.

I really don't think you get the whole 'support' thing at all. Either that or you're simply winding everyone up again. I suspect it's actually a bit of both.

I get support, but I also get that England are not the team that I want them to be.

Whether I laugh or not at a mistake makes no difference to whether that mistake happens. If something happens and it's funny, I laugh. :)
