I actually think uruguay could be a big threat to england if they end up playing in the quarter finals. I can imagine the pundits writing them off because forlan failed at man utd already, Most probably dont even realise he has been good since he left.

I'm betting on Over 2.5 on another couple of games, after the dearth of goals in the opening games I'm now anticipating (or at least hoping for) goals galore.

Crap start to the World Cup for me betting wise but had Forlan to score and then ploughed my winnings into the Over 2.5 tonight.

Figured this out:

If Chile draw with Spain and Switzerland beat Honduras, then Spain need to beat Honduras and Chile need a draw with Switzerland.

If Chile beat Spain and Switzerland beat Honduras, Spain are out.

If Spain beat Chile then it's essentially a straight fight, could well end up on goal difference and you'd fancy Spain - even with that performance - to stick a few past Honduras.

Interestingly the bookies have slashed the odds of Spain going out in the groups to just 2/1.

I do the bbc draw predictor regulalrly, admitedly get different results every time! Its looking like the draw could become very unbalanced. Theres a good chance that italy, spain, brazil, holland and england could be in one half of the draw and germany and argentina on the other. Actually if england top their group they should end up in the easiest quarter of the tournament, with one of england, uruguay,ghana or south korea getting to the semis. All 4 sides will look at that draw and fancy their chances of getting ot the last 4.

Though I'm getting a bit pissed off with the continual moaning about the ball and the vuvuzela. I think people should be over it by now - it's almost a week since the tournament began, they're both here to stay. I just hope the quality of the football improves so people stop wittering on about other aspects. Yesterday was pretty good, mind.

I dont get the criticism of the ball either. Most teams have managed to pass the ball around very well - Spain managed to pass it around extremely well yesterday, and Alonso hit some extremely accurate cross field passes, for example.

The reason why its not been as exciting is because most of the lesser teams are extremely well organised defensively- at least 8 men behind the ball at all times, defenders covering each other etc. TMay or may not have something to do with a lot of them having experienced managers - Hitzfeld, le Guen, Eriksson to name 3 off the top of my head.

There's something to be said about the amount of swerve, but everything else is rubbish. It's no harder to hold- it's the same shape. It's not harder to block or punch away- it's the same weight. The slightly different bounce has nothing to do with the ball, and everything to do with it being a harder pitch than you'll find in England/Germany/France/El Classico.

I'm still blaming everything on the Vuvuzela, including Samuel and Veron's injuries.
