I dont really agree with the home nations argument some people use. If (unlikely I know) one of the other home nations had qualified theres no way either station would give them equal coverage that england get in the group stage. However a commercial station like ITV has to cater to its audience so you can see why they do it, the bbc is a more difficult one.

I only watched England, Scotland and the final in '98, so can't make a fair judgement. Ireland isn't part of the United Kingdom, so their coverage in 2002 was fair IMO.

Should Wales, Northern Ireland or Scotland qualify, then as you say, you would expect equal coverage of England and Scotland on the BBC. The one caveat is that you'd need to allow for the fact that the BBC's most prominent staff are only familiar with the Premier League and Old Firm.

Great strike.

Game on.

If it stays like this until half time, I bet one of the pundits will say 'if it stays like this, England are guaranteed to win the group if they win their last 2 games'.

boom

awful defending.

it's as if playing england was their whole world cup. who'd have thunk it. a side playing above themselves when facing one the best 8 sides in the world, a former owner, and having the benefit of nothing to lose?
