Reading Festival 2011

Am I the only person who finds rumours of Foo Fighter's Green Day, Strokes, Muse, Kasabian and so on really dull?

What I love about R+L is that they take risk's with headliner's, offering alternative's to the constantly touring, obvious festival bands

It's just exciting when you see a line-up with some thought put into it, and a bit of originality

well yeah, i agree with muse. but foo fighters havent played for years and the strokes havent played since 2002. there's only a certain amount of bands out there who are big enough to headline a festival. unfortuntely they go on a rotation until other bands get big enough to do it.

you have other festivals like glastonbury who can get completely unique and different headliners each year because it caters for so many different music tastes. the problem with R and L is that its either rock or indie really

Muse say they're taking a break after this current tour, so I'd say they're unlikely. I'm going with something like My Chemical Romance, The Strokes and Green Day. Wouldnt be suprised to see a new headliner like Kaiser Chiefs or somebody instead of either GD or Strokes though.

Can we just clear this up once and for all. Soundgarden are big enough to headline. They're a very big band, they haven't played in europe for 10 years, there's massive hype for them to return and they're at least as big as Blink and Arcade Fire. Besides, they will almost certainly be offered headlining slots at both sonisphere and download, as both organisers are big fans. Why would they reject those offers for sub-headline spots at reading and leeds. If R&L want to get Soundgarden (which I don't think will happen) they will HAVE to offer a headlining spot.

Meanwhile Offspring are sub-headliners at the highest.

Reading would never get someone like Daft Punk as a headliner. Justice to headline NME is entirely possible though.

Muse are going away for a few years now, so they won't be playing Reading 2011.

Looks like Green Day are wrapping up for a while as well.

Linkin Park are dead certs as 2011 headliners, they haven't played Reading in years and they've got a new album coming out soon. Can't see any reason they wouldn't be doing 2011 festivals and they've done both Download and Sonisphere relatively recently, can't see where else they'd want to play.

The Strokes and Foo Fighters look pretty likely as headliners as well.
