El4d
'The Rats' appear on the poster (mid lockup on saturday) but not on the lineup or the efests lineup? Found these guys on myspace http://www.myspace.com/theratsnyc ??? actual band or a suprise band using a pseudonym??? edit: http://www.gallows.co.uk/rats/ Edited May 25, 2010 by El4d
j...rox
Great spot. Probably them alright.
KingOfTheRodeo
Could be on to something. Very much doubt it's the American band 'The Rats' as they were only going for 4 years from 1980-1984 and the lead singer is now 62 and the other guys have gigs over the festival weekend. mattl
I would be surprised if it was a Gallows pseudonym, i think sometime last year they announced they wern't playing the festival after playing 3/4 years in a row. But on the other hand, they're not up to much studio wise and are sub-headlining Hevy festival a couple of weeks before R+L.
micawber
Is it this lot? "2009 is no exception to the high quality and value threshold, with exclusive appearances from Ireland’s Boomtown Rats Garry Roberts & Simon Crowe’s new band, The Rats – who will be dipping into the R&B roots of the earliest Boomtown Rats material, plus all the hits – and the return of original Thin Lizzy guitarist, Eric Bell." http://www.safeconcerts.com/festivals/rock...ues-weekend.asp
therefused
really wouldnt surprise me, they wanted to open the stage last year, plus it was weird with them never being properly mentioned to be playing. they clash with gaslight anhem though, but might venture over after. scottt
http://www.myspace.com/theratsnyc They pulled out. Playing in Belgium instead.
mrtourette
It does seem odd that they're the only band on the official site line-up that doesn't link to an info page. Definitely something fishy going on.
RichieParf
Mike Davies definitely said something like 'we've announced all the bands, well, all the ones we want to anyway', so they're definitely hiding something.
cally8793
I was thinking as much, but there's also a gap on the lockup stage on that day, so room to stick another band in? Mind, I wouldn't be surprised at all if Bad Religion were given an extended set...

garno5
"Reading & Leeds Festival After tearing it up across the states this summer on The Warped Tour Gallows return to play Reading & Leeds Festivals. The band take to the NME / Radio1 stage at Reading on Sunday (30th) and Leeds on Saturday (29th). We want your photos of you at Reading & Leeds. Any Rats wearing Gallows t-shirts in the photos will be entered into a draw to win signed copies of Grey Britain. Home made t-shirts are very much encouraged. There will be a series of runner up prizes too. Send your photos along with name and address to therats@hotmail.co.uk."

fat_man_joe
It's more likely the FFers under a pseudonym .
Clemo
The Rats are now on the interactive poster, but interesting are the only band without a link to any sort of information about them, there must be something going on.

one-armed scissor
I thought all band names were copyrighted, which is why some bands have had to change names? So, if this is the case, these must be a band under a fake band name, as the real 'The Rats' were a band in the 1960s from Hull. They released a track "The Rise And Fall Of Bernie Gripplestone" and half of the band (Woodmansey and Mick Ronson) went on to form The Hype, which later became The Spiders From Mars (for info see Bowie). Though I know original members of The Rats are reforming for a Mick Ronson memorial concert in June, in Hull to raise money towards getting a bronze statue of Mick Ronson erected in Hull city centre, so maybe it's them? k1n60fthew0rld
Trying not to believe the hype because of last time, but I can't help but think it's odd.
wooga
well, on myspace it says the rats are playing gigs all across the weekend of r/l. so its not them. and as there isnt a link or any info on them it probably is someone under a different name.
