How Happy Are You With R&L 2010?

:P

I think there's a difference between name-dropping something on a constant basis and using it as a means to contextualise a point. Or in future it might just be a good idea to keep your bullshit to yourself instead of bringing unneeded hassle and antagonism to a thread.

Anyway...

Like I said, I'm fairly happy with the line-up. I have my reservations about a few bands but at the end of the day I'll just go there and make the most of it. If you really feel strongly that it's a shit line-up then just don't go - make a tidy profit and sell your tickets on eBay. Change them for tickets to a festival with good bands.

A good festival is a varied festival and, frankly, I think Leeds/Reading offers quite of lot of choice for a lot of different people so by that I'd say it's looking to be a good festival so far. I have a handful of bands that I absolutely must see but I'm more than happy to check out any tent and see any band. Just go with it and don't make any plans.

That's fair enough. I don't think I've wanted to see more than 5 bands at Reading the whole weekend. The rest of the weekend is spent dossing on the campsite, or seeing some interesting bands. This year for me there's more than normal, but there again no stand out act.

It'll be GNR (just for old times sake), Gogol Bordello, King Blues, Four Tet, Mumford n Sons, Cypress Hill, a day or two in the lockup and that's it... :P

Mystery Jets

Gaslight Anthem

The Cribs

Reading:

Friday: A bit meh for me. Skints + Streetlight + Nofx are whats gunna save me. Gogol may clash with streetlights a bit unforually. Sick of it all, hatebreed and alkaline trio are nothing to complain about, but nothing to WOW me. - 6/10

Saturday: Will start the day in the NME tent - Rolo Tomassi, Band of Skulls, 3OH3, Hadouken (THis is assuming that gasslight are going to do a double set.... otherwise may have to go see them). And then head to the lockup for RX bandits, Crime in stereo, and Zebrahead, before seing the libertines and ending it off with Bad Religion. Although the start is a little dry in the NME, will be my busyest day by far! - 9/10

Sunday. Day with the most major clashes. Although the Dance tent is a pretty weak lineup, I still want to see most of it. And Then on top of that I want to see the Foals and part of We are Scientists in the NME (I hate paramore, so shall watch untill BLink start and chill at a distance. - 7/10

Not the best festival I have been too, but with Bad religion, Libertines, Weezer, Limp Bizkit, Cypress hill, Streetlight - im not complaining at all. Hoping for a good alternative stage to fill the gaps :P

Very Happy!!!

The whole weekend looks brilliant.

Leeds For Me So

Friday - Wont be going to mainstage for the later bands on the bill, will see the Futureheads and head over to NME for Frank Turner upwards! Also Zebrahead on Lock-up i would like to see. Enter Shakiri nd Pendulum make it 9/10

Saturday - Not a big fan of Blink182 but will be going to watch, Paramore should be brill, but thats the main stage for me on saturday. I think the rest of day will be watching The Drums, Kele of BlocParty, and we are scientists if they dont clash with parmore but no doubt will. Overall a bit disapointing day for me 7/10

Sunday- Ok maybe its not the real Gun's and Roses but im still going to get to see them. Huge attraction for me, one to tell the grandkids about. Whole day watching the mainstage i thinks for me.

Brilliant line up:

Billy Talent - Love these suprised they arnt a bit higher up the bill somwhere.

Gogol Bordello - Is pure Leeds Festival, very alternative but very good and very entertaining i am soo looking forward to these.

Nofx - Not really listened to these, keeping and open mind and will be on youtube checking them out maybe a good time to go get a drink or two.

Lostprophets - New album is amazing, a good sturdy band.

Biffy Clyro - To me these are stronger than Arcade Fire, and could have easily sat underneath the Libertines on the friday. A very good band who i always listen to when on travels. A future headliner!

QOFTA - A huge band for leeds, could have easily jumped on Them Crooked Vultures bandwagon. But we got Josh Holme himslef, wouldnt be too suprised to see Dave Grohl make an apperance here aswell.

Gun's & Roses - Wow for everyone who says its a tribute act, you have a point but the same man is signing the songs and hopefully turn up on time!!!

10/10 for the final day glad im going Leeds, Reading is the wrong way round for me... Finish on a high!

9/10 overall

Friday

Lots of bands i like, will be no problems finding anyone to watch.

GnR

QOTSA

Biffy

Lostprophets

Billy Talent

A Day To Remember

Young Guns

Mumford & Sons

Yeasayer

The Big Pink

Saturday

Never usually a huge fan of the Saturday Mainstage, but the NME is looking amazing.

Dizzee Rascal

The Gaslight Anthem

Pendulum

Enter Shikari

Serj Tankian

KIGH

Hadouken!

30h!3

Band Of Skulls

Zebrahead

Sunday

Mainstage is pretty weak, but Limp Bizkit and Blink are almost making up for it, Paramore, You Me At Six and All Time Low placed as highly as they are though is quite disapointing. Also to be honest there isnt much else i like on the other stages.

Blink

Paramore

Weezer

Limp Bizkit

Chiddy Bang

Overall i think its a really good lineup.

f**king brilliant. last year was probably the worst reading I've ever been to. missed the only decent headliner (Billy Talent) to see marmaduke duke. only other decent Headliner was the Gossip - didn't like at all before the show.

this year has 6 of my favourite bands ever- Alkaline trio, Bad Religion, Blink 182, Gaslight Anthem, Libertines and NOFX - no clashes!, plus a load of others I really like! Billy Talent, Against Me, Weezer, King Blues and Biffy Clyro. dance tent and strength in depth prevents it being better than 2005 as best line up ever - also no B-Bar!

Leeds for me:

Friday: 8/10. Pretty good, and very excited about a few acts.

The Futureheads

Band of Skulls

Gaslight Anthem

Modest Mouse

Kids In Glass Houses

Frank Turner

Serj Tankian

The Libertines

Arcade Fire

Few bands I'd like to see on lockup, but pretty much all high up, and Libertines take the priority, just because I used to love them so much. But if anything does get slotted high up, can see myself going to see Cancer Bats rather than Serj.

Saturday: 8/10. Pretty much all marks for Limp Bizkit-Weezer and King Blues.

The King Blues

You Me At Six

Limp Bizkit

Cypress Hill

Weezer

Foals

We Are Scientists

Blink-182

Sunday: 10/10 - main stage is incredible :P Again, would love to see Skints, Streetlight, Against Me, but can't see myself being moved from main that easily. Maybe in lostprophets.

I'm heading to Leeds:

Friday - Pretty happy. Not a single band on main stage for me though. Lockup for the first half of the day, NME for Serj and Frank, then Lockup for the rest of the night, especially Bad Religion.

Saturday - Not the best for me, but looking forward to the nostalgia of seeing the likes of Blink, Weezer, Limp and Cypress Hill. Most importantly though, the missus is thrilled with the main stage, so if she's happy, then that's what counts :P

Sunday - Chuffed to bits with GNR. Don't care what anyone says - they're awesome live. Bands change their lineups all the time. Get over it. Sure, it's not quite the same without Slash and Duff, but they're still an absolutely amazing live band.

All in all, a 7.5/10 for me. As a festival "veteran" at the scary hights of 27 years old, I would've liked to have seen a few more "classic" bands on the lineup, especially on NME/Lockup, but you can't expect a festival to be tailored to one generation. The only real disappointments as far as I'm concerned are some of the clashes (especially Alk3/GNR) and facing up to the realisation that no matter how great they are and how much I've loved them as a band over the last decade, the Biffy setlist is going to be huge letdown.

Leeds:

Friday: best day of the weekend for me, libs followed by arcade fire is going to be amazing. Overall 9/10 for me.

Saturday: this is my 'meh' day, however Weezer and Blink-182 makes me a very happy chappy :P. Overall 8/10

Sunday: This may as well be called main stage day for me, as this is where i shall be allday, i mean Lostprophets, Biffy, QOTSA and then Guns n Roses, shall be a very good way to end the festival. Overall 8/10

Weekend overall 8/10

Pretty poor lineup overall for me to be honest. Still wish I was going though as their are a few bands I would really enjoy , but most people I know feel the same and aren't going. I definitely preferred the last 2 years by a long way, which in my opinion had stronger headliners and more of my favourites playing throughout the days.

I'm really happy with Leeds this year. I think Friday is particularly strong as i am very excited for Libertines and Arcade Fire. However, i think the line up is lacking a special performance on Saturday and Sunday which I was hoping would have been the originally rumored Soundgarden. But oh well, Biffy and Q.O.T.S.A will still be incredible!

Only going for the Saturday and The Maccabees aside I could quite happily spend the whole day at the Main Stage, which is a first. So quality lineup for me.

Little point giving much thought to comment on the weekend as a whole seeing as I'm not going, little bit dissapointed with the NME stage again though.
