I didnt say that - i'm not sure , I dont have all the answers, I can just see it causing problems

I mean I don't know how close is too close, how can you decide? I'm just basing my thoughts on, imagine if you're friend or a family member died in the 9/11 attack - and yes I know it's not all Muslims, but families of victims aren't exactly going to be overjoyed by this are the!

It was barely even a story until some right wing nut-job blogger got the wind up her and suddenly conservative politicians and pundits who had previously been supportive, or at worst didn't really care or see it as an issue, were suddenly foaming at the mouth and using it as a way to attack their Muslim president. What with elections coming up. The Daily Show did one of their excellent "idiot says one thing, then a few months later completely contradicts themselves when they see an opportunity to score a few points" clips that they do so well

And while some people who suffered on 9/11 are coming out against it, some are coming out for it. Hopefully most are maintaining a quiet dignity and not allowing their private grief be turned into a public spectacle

Because under the american constitution and New York zoning laws they have every right too.

And how close is too close?

And why should they have to compromise because of other people's bigotry, as shown in the story you linked to and the one about the mob turning on a guy walking through (to get to the actual ground zero where he is working on rebuilding) whose main crime was being black and looking like a potential muslim

It's about half a mile away for starters. Then there's the fact that it's not actually just a mosque, it's a community centre. The way it's been reported (largely in America, especially on Fox) is shocking. Jon Stewart also pointed out that the main funding behind the mosque is also the second largest shareholder of NewsCorp, who own Fox.

Also, in reference to a quote above, due to their relentless slaughter of Americans, I won't be supporting the building of a McDonalds on the Ground Zero site.

No big deal. Happens all the time on farms. They drown them in a bucket.

Tens of thousands of greyhounds are put down each year, 15,000 odd in Ireland and about the same in the UK, but nobody cares about that. And now theres a media outcry at six puppies being killed, or one cat? Lazy, lazy journalism.
