Flicked onto BBC News, and one of the two most disliked Colonels in the world (alongside Ken Bates of KFC fame) has praised China's response to Tiananmen Square, saying that all protest amounts to armed rebellion, and that he intends to follow their lead.

Bearing in mind that even the likes of Robert Mugabe and Kim Jong-il deny their atrocities, that has surely got to be a contender for the most shocking statement by a head of state in relation to his own people since the advent of colour telly.
