La Route du Rock

I am planning on heading over to France for La Route du Rock this year, it sounds pretty good from what I can see.

The problem is that the English section of their website is somewhat lacking.

Has anyone been over for this? If so, what are the camping arrangements like, when does it open, are campervans welcome etc??

The setting looks great and the line up is filling out nicely so far.

Any help greatly appreciated :P

I went to this in 2005 and 2006. The lasting memory of the campsite is that the ground was extremely uneven and rock solid - basically a ploughed field that has hardened under the French summer sun. I can't remember if there were campervans but I don't see why there wouldn't have been - the campervan would obviously be highly recommended given the state of the campsite.

It is a good festival but in when I was there it only had 1 stage so choice is not really on the agenda. The bands usually start in late afternoon/early evening and go right through until 3 or 4 in the morning. During the day it's possible to take the shuttle bus into nearby St Malo to occupy your time.

Hope this helps.

Hi

I have just e-mailed the festival to try to get some info as as you mention their site does not give much away.

Will post info if I hear anything.

A few questions from me, grateful to anyone who can answer:

Roughly how many people attend?

Also their English FAQ says that once you're in the campsite, you're not allowed to leave; but that doesn't sound right (especially as they have buses running all day back to town). Anyone know?

Anyone know how long it takes to get there by ferry?

What's the food, drink and general camping conditions like?

Bullet bitten, tickets bought.

I'm still a bit worried about that "Of course you can't leave the site" thing, but there are probably far worse places to be trapped!

An online version of the program is now up here: http://www.laroutedurock.com/download/PROGRAMME_RDRE2010.pdf

Unfortunately I can't yet find an English version, but times etc are easy to follow.

i would cut and paste the relevant part (page 3), but it's in a weird pdf file so when I try to do that it all gets jumbled up.
