By political do you mean culturaly alligned? (music being fairly cultural based)

We can win, we put in shite so don't. And let's be honest, bar about 6 or 7 exceptions tonight, there's been no real "set up" as you'd like to think.

We and 5 other countries pay 40%, the remaining countries pay the other 60%. This is because the original broadcasters wanted to keep the main control of things (and generaly still do to this day on how the TV show should be set up and filmed and the like.

I think the reality is that even with the best eurovision song, the UK could currently probably only hope of gaining a reasonable score, this reality won't change in any coming years, if every.

The whole eurovision concept is very political as well as cultural, which doesn't benefit the UK

Shite is subjective and in the case of music, relates to culture. We're sitting here on a forum talking with British folk. I'm sure people from other nations would disagree with you. Not for political reasons, as has been said masses of people aren't that way inclined, but culturaly they are close and will like the same thing.

Malta not voting the UK points proves this realy.

It's a combination of the song and political goodwill.

Russia could win with an average Eurovision song, and have to deliberately enter rubbish songs to ensure that the competition doesn't descend to farce status. Germany's song was a slightly above average one, but all of a sudden they bail out the whole of Europe and walk away with it.

Barely gets talked about in the thread before and during the show, but once the votes get announced, the Brits have to come up with a reason they done shite!

These conspiracy theories are all too much, more than last year! My f**king god, please keep going! :P:P
