I dunno about panic!, but all time low definetly started out as a blink cover band. Most recent big name pop-punk bands wil state Blink as an influence, you're hardly goin to get metal, indie etc bands starting off because of Blink!

But in terms of pop-punk they're as big as you get

I am massively lackig in knoweldge when it comes to drummers. I can tell a good guitarist from an average one but when I see a band live the drumming is not something I really pay attention to. I know its a skill but always thought drummers in band were pretty interchangable. What can he do that drummers in other bands cant. By the way this is not me agreeing/ disagreeing with you but purely something I have always wondered about.

A good band would be Pavement. Incidentally, they're not my favourite band (I don't have one because I have so many) and I wouldn't direct anybody towards them but if I were to be asked which band in the history of music were the most consistent and never did anything bad, it would be them. Very few bands can do what they did in their lifetime - Yo La Tengo are close; Big Black would be my second choice. Velvet Underground maybe.

Bands that are good don't have to be bands I like - I, for instance, cannot stand The Beatles but I admire their ability to be both the best at what they did and most popular. They also had an uncanny ability to push the boundaries of what was possible with pop music.

Blink 182... they were never good. They maybe wrote a handful of catchy pop songs and they may have spoken to a few million people who laugh at Adam Sandler films but they never had the creative ambition or consistency to be regarded as a good band. Mediocre, 4/10, could do better, etc.

They're like... you have an essay to write about Apocalypse Now and most of your sentences end with, "...and stuff".

I disagree that if you do well in the charts and sell out tours you are a good band. Surely these can be achieved by people taking in what the media are spoonfeeding. A bands image is far more an important factor too chart success than being a good band. I would argue the people involved in promoting and marketing of paramore are far more influential to the bands success than the individual members.

Why do you think your opinion is better than anyone else'. You don't like Blink we get it !!Stop clogging up threads for people who like Blink. If there was a thread about a band i didn't like i wouldn't keep commenting on every bit of praise somebody else gave them. I don't give a shit about how musically talented they are ect... And who are you to judge anyway? You're not some music guru whether you think you are or not
