Announced today

Virgin Media partners with Nokia for V Festival 2010

* Nokia becomes official mobile entertainment partner

* Exclusive range of handsets and exclusive V Festival app

Virgin Media, headline sponsor of V Festival, today announced Nokia as Virgin Media’s official mobile entertainment partner for this year’s V Festival, taking place over 21st/22nd August 2010 at Hylands Park, Chelmsford and Weston Park, Staffordshire.

The partnership will include the launch of an exclusive range of cutting-edge Nokia touch-based handsets, featuring special ‘V’ editions of the Nokia 5230 and Nokia X6. An Ovi app is being created as part of extensive tactical marketing and promotional activity, which will include competitions to win handsets and V Festival tickets. The partnership will also see significant on-site activation, with Nokia activity in the main arenas as well as the Virgin Media Louder Lounge VIP area.

The new ‘V’ phones will include special content including free tracks from the Nokia Music Store, wallpapers and games as well as exclusive V Festival branding. In addition, with the new handset range equipped as standard with GPS receivers, the phones will also feature a comprehensive V Festival app with free Ovi Maps to ensure festival-goers know exactly where to go to meet friends and enjoy their favourite bands during the two-day event. Integration into social networks as well as news, artist line-up information, and live updates will also provide the perfect way to stay up to date at V Festival.

Jonathan Kini, director of mobile, at Virgin Media said “We’re thrilled to announce Nokia as our partner for V Festival 2010. With both brands’ long heritage with music, this partnership provides an excellent opportunity for Virgin Media and Nokia to engage with a key audience, with a great app, handsets and on-site activity.”

John Nichols, head of marketing, Nokia UK, “We’re delighted to be partnering with Virgin Media for V Festival 2010. The V Festival Ovi app that we’ve created is packed full of info, news and maps that will ensure fans make the most of the great line up and never miss their favourite band.”
