Pretty much par for the course though. In my office there is only one person who supports a football club outside of the premiership, and his team is Juventus. No one watches the Airtricity league.

It was funny to see fans at the Shamrock Rovers vs Juventus game in Tallaght last week wearing Liverpool shirts, especially given that there was a Liverpool game on at exactly the same time.

Anyway: Portsmouth.

I'm going to nail my colours to the mast. I really think tomorrow is it. It's one thing for the administrator to go public in playing up or down the problems, whichever is in the club's interest at the time, or to paint HMRC as the only bad guys in the situation. It's quite another for the club's lawyer to attempt to emotionally blackmail a high court judge through the media. He or she must really feel that HMRC are favourites to go to such lengths.

Blimey....

Bristol City gripped by speculation Michael Owen will join Robins on loan

I'd be quite surprised if this happened. My take on things is that Owen hasn't been that fussed if he kept on playing or not for a few years now, so while the chance to play for Utd was appealing, I'm not sure he'd be bothered to play a lower level.

But if it happens, Bristol will go nuts. The place already has huge grins over signing James.

Liverpool bidder

So it seems that it's the CHinese govenrment that are bidding to buy Liverpool. I know that all fans really care about is that the club gets itself back on track, but I must say they are really the investors i'd be desperate to have.

I'm confused by all of this.

A few days ago the story was that a consortium led by Kenny Huang had made a bid. Yesterday I read a story that stated Kenny Huang had said he'd made no bid. I also saw Keith Harris (but no Orvil :P) on Sky saying that Kenny Huang's interest wasn't close in financial terms to other firm bids already on the table, and so the club wasn't be likely to be sold to Kenny Huang.

So while this Guardian story might be right about this Chinese govt fund being a front runner, I'm not sure that they're not confusing two different things and mixing them together.

According to whufc.com:

"We are close to signing a young international who represented his country with distinction at the 2010 world cup"

Any guesses? I reckon KPB is the obvious candidate, not sure of many others we'd be in a position to sign

...Or are we getting one of the New Zealanders who play in the conference...

Any guesses?

According to BBC's gossip....

West Ham are poised to complete the £5m signing of highly rated New Zealand World Cup star Winston Reid. The 22-year-old defender is the mystery signing the Hammers have promised fans on their website.

don't remember him scoring too many. and wages are irrelevant as far as i can see. he's still a body taking up a place in the team. berbatovs scored far more than him you'd think yet he's a flop cos he's on more money... and obviously cos he's a lazy twat.
