The only tactic man utd could have used to sort out the midfield would be to invent a time machine and either

1. Bring back some of the greatest midfielders in football history.

2. Slip mrs xavi, iniesta and messi the contraceptive pill to prevent their birth.

Fact is whatever combination of midfielders and strikers fergie chose were destined to lose unless barca had an off day. I found sky sunday supplement annoying today overanalysing the game and what it says about the english game, it doesnt say anything other than the fact we are currently lucky to be able to see one of the greatest football teams of all time. This current man utd side while not great are still better than the porto, liverpool and milan sides that won the trophy in recent times. When I look at the 4 finals man utd have played in, I think most honest fans will say they have done well to win 2. They havent put a great performance in any and could have easily lost all 4.

Worst final day ever. Terrible atmosphere, Wembley is a fantastic looking ground but it is souless to the core. Barca were unbelievable, I guess the plan was to play two up top and try and take the game to them but you can't do that if you don't have the ball. What a drubbing, but don't have any bitterness or resentment about it and this will be one of these teams talked about for years to come.

Real Madrid have spent £300M and have some of the best players in the game and can't hold a candle to them.

On a side note, the actual going to the game itself summed up what is wrong with football and why I attend very few games these days . Corporate hell, the car parks all booked out by Uefa (apparently including disabled) and were full and i mean every car, of Mercedes, BMW's etcs, all new. A lot of the attendance was based on the ability to pay, foreigners who you can't say bought all the home, league and cup games and had applied to European away games to get a ballot ticket out in force. Don't even get me started on club F'in Wembley or Thomas Cook and United teaming upto charge £500 for a coach down there with a guaranteed ticket to people who didn't even have to have attended a game all season as long as you could afford the mark up. I don't go to Old Trafford anymore for the exact reason. Football has sold its soul and there is no better example than United, Wembley, and Uefa. Total joke of a final full of foreigners, JCL, non local types there based on the ability to pay. Even in 5 years this has changed a hell of a lot at United.

Or maybe the guys who have been brought up on United, and locals who have been priced out and do not want the "match day experience" at the "theatre of dreams" who go to games and jib in are the problem

Going up! Going up! Posh are going up!

Seriously guys. Prem league is dull and predictable. The lower leagues are the way forward. The championship is the best league in the world and posh are back in it.

I do sort agree that the Prem. is predictable. I wouldn't say the championship is the best in the world, I wouldn't say that the Prem. is either. Half of the Premiership teams seem to be constantly down at the bottom. However; this season the Prem. was slightly less predictable. But just look at the championship, teams do well one season and badly the next. Last season Reading were in the relegation zone, Rodgers then left and Mcdermot came in. We then got into the top ten with a chance of reaching the play offs within the space of around 2 and a half months.

It's not the teams in the league that my point is about. It's the league as a whole. Watch the football league show before you watch motd and it's much more fresher to watch.

Also the teams are much more accessible. The league system is how football should be. The only thing people crave is the money and glamour of the premier league.

Take the money out of the premier league and what have you really got?

Ask Newcastle fans how much they enjoyed the championship and ask west ham fans this time next season and I bet you they all say loved the season.

So you don't want posh in prem then?

West ham will enjoy it because they will win a game or 2! Your being a tad silly really, we all know prems all about money but that's what all championship sides are after. Don't try and tell me otherwise.

Your in a good situation attracting utds reserve youngsters with fergie jr, just ask preston lol.

Darren Ferguson is a bit of a legend. Yep he was at Preston and didn't do much. However he was promised a lot and it wasn't delivered to him. As for the Man Utd kids we didn't get that many last time and cant see us getting that many again. Preston is an all seater 30,000 seater stadium not too far from Manchester.
