eFestivals
I just cant see these regulation happening. The current homegrown rule is based on the support of the clubs. The second a club decides to make a stand and challenge it in a european court the rules gone. I think that rule would be one step too far for the likes of city, real inter, milan etc i'm pretty sure you're wrong with that. The definition of 'homegrown' is as it is to get around any EU employment law problems - it's not based on nationality, but on the time a young player has spent with the club. And clubs aren't stopped from 'employing' other players. UEFA are of the belief that what they've come up with is within EU laws, and it's not like they'll have guessed at it, they'll have used a raft of top lawyers. eFestivals
And Sneidjer has commited to stay at Inter. That's any chance United had of even getting close to Barcelona down the pan. I wonder if they knew this a week ago hence the sudden rumours around Nasri? yeah, I saw that about Sneidjer, tho the full quotes I saw still seemed to leave open the possibility of a move. I'll be quite surprised if Nasri ends up in Manc Salford, I'd have thought that Wenger would rather sell him to just about anyone else overseas. I think similar with the rumours of Clichy to Liverpool, tho perhaps that has a little more chance of actually happening. As for getting close to Barca, it'll take a whole new squad, not just one player - and certainly not Sneidjer. Cos whatever else his skills and the rest of the Utd squad, they simply don't have the close control skills and ability to one-touch that Barca oozes. ralph250
BBC Radio Five's Ian McGarry on Twitter (@garbosj) So Wesley Sneijder stays at Inter because #MUFC and #CFC refused to match his 7m net salary. At last, sensible decisions from PL clubs

The Nal
Charlie Adam for about £7m, possibly rising to £10m. Seems nailed on within next day. Maybe Downing this week. Seems to be the gist of it.

pink_triangle
The rumours are that Alexis Sanchez is on the way to Man City. I have found the early stages of the transfer window a little underwhelming, however this is a player I would be very excited to see in the premiership. ralph250
Just doesn't make sense what's going on at Villa Park. It really does seem as if the news on Houllier caught them completely by surprise. Just weird.

ralph250
I think Adam would be a big mistake, if your aim is to contend for champions league football then I dont think he is of the necessary ability. He had a great start to last season but was pretty weak towards the end and cost blackpool a few goals. I think he could maybe do a job for bolton, newcastle, fulham etc but thats his level.
