So Liverpools takeover not as hopeful as first thought. They couled be "bailed out" bank style and owned by the tax payer? Madness.

actually, I think this happening is the best thing that could possibly happen within the Prem for the good of English football (aside from Pompey having gone under mid-season, if they had - no offence meant to Pompey, it's said from the point of view of the impact it would have had).

If RBS took over and then sold out for less than what is owed, can you imagine the taxpayer outcry? They'd be immediate calls from more than just a small section of football fans for the tighter regulation of club ownership - and which might ultimately see the end of debt-financed takeovers.

Barcelona midfielder Xavi insists Cesc Fabregas's stay at Arsenal could only be temporary. The Gunners captain, subject to speculation regarding a move to the Nou Camp, revealed last week he would remain at the Emirates. Xavi said: "We've given up on the idea of him arriving now but maybe he'll come in January when Arsenal are out of the Premier League race. They can't just hold him against his will."

After things like that, I don't think there's an agreement in place for him to move next year.

It would be good for football yeah but for Liverpool?! God knows what would happen. 9 point reduction at the very least. And that would be "getting off lightly".

nope - if RBS took over it isn't the same as administration. It's the same situation as when Chandlrai(sp?) took over Pompey because a debt owed to him hadn't been paid up.

And if RBS took over, they'd no doubt auction it off - and in that situation they'd very probably be no end of bidders hoping to pick it up at a cheap price, which of course should then mean a greater willingness to invest by whoever ended up owning them (as they'd have not over-paid).

So all in all, the only losers are likely to be the yanks and the taxpayers, and it should be a fairly decent result for Liverpool.

A good piece of business by the barcodes if they have got Ben Arfa on loan. A bit moody but very talented.

I hate it when you call em 'the barcodes'. Barcodes are clever things. They might look like random black and white stripes, but they can contain a lot of info within them.

And clever things is the very last thing that can be rightfully applied to Newcastle United FC.:lol::lol::lol:

I'd be over the moon if that happened, but why would city let it happen? They can afford to have him sitting on the bench, and why would they sell to us and make us a stronger side? Sadly I just can't see it going ahead.

City are in a spot with many of their players - they've got just too many.

And bearing in mind the wages they'll be on, the options for where they might go are limited unless they're happy for them to go to the 'big' clubs who can afford their wages in full. Otherwise they'll be paying loads of players to play for other teams.

There's been regular rumours over the last couple of weeks that Liverpool are going to scoop up SWP and Stephen Ireland (if Ireland isn't a part of the Milner deal), and while those might just be paper talk I can't see shitty not taking up options like that. It'll just make the owners see that the whole set-up at the club is laughable if they're buying players on stupid wages who they're then stuck with or paying to play for other teams. Millionaires are rich, not stupid.
